TV Show Cancellation Thread (including ending ones)

Doctor Odyssey and Grosse Pointe Garden Society cancelled after just 1 season? And the networks wonder why they can't draw the ratings they used to. It's not all streaming and cord cutting; it's people not being able to get emotionally invested in a show, knowing it will probably get cancelled after the first or second season. That's not just my opinion; several of my female friends have said the same. Why even bother watching?
Shows have always been one-and-done. Some never made it to the one. This isn’t new and not streaming related.

I have lost track of the number of series that I enjoyed which made it only to the first season ... sometimes less.
But I can tell you that one of the first that I consciously remember was "Bring 'Em Back Alive" ... a period piece adventure series in which Bruce Boxleitner played the legendary Frank Buck. And that was back in the 1982-83 season.

“Doctor Odyssey’s” journey at sea has come to an abrupt end
Several problems with the show. The biggest was the female nurse getting pregnant and wondering which of her two co-workers was the father.

The romances between the co-workers were unnecessary to begin with.

Then there were all the unbelievable medical problems. More than would be typical on a cruise ship. Fortunately, the doctor was an experienced surgeon capable of so much more than a typical ship's doctor, but he took that job because it would be less stressful than what he had gone through.

And the female nurse was going to leave the ship (and therefore the show) to go to medical school.

I liked Don Johnson.

She wasn’t actually pregnant, but was later revealed to have a condition that triggered a false positive.

We eventually got around to watching the entire series, but the “throuple” storyline left a sour taste in my mouth. Totally unnecessary.

“Believable” medical problems make for a more boring show. You could make the same criticism of most medical series.
I think there should be some degree of realism. "The Love Boat" had that.
The two shows were similar, though The Love Boat had many more recognizable guest stars.

Doctor Odyssey is what The Love Boat would have been if Bernie Kopell was the main character instead of Gavin MacLeod.
