Verstandig Sells WAYZ 104.7

So does a 3rd signal mean a network or is the expansion just on the edges of the Baltimore market.
Probably the latter as it'll likely be a simulcast of the main Bright FM signal in Baltimore. I don't expect them to expand much further (never say never though), especially southward considering 2 CCM stations in Washington, DC, WGTS & K-Love's WLVW. This sale comes nearly a year since Brighter Media Group sold their former WRBS-AM signal though the programming from there continues online. If EMF/K-Love Inc. are going to have a Baltimore presence, it'll likely be buying an underperforming commercial station.

Fybush's NERW reports they're going to move WAYZ's format and call letters to another Verstandig station as its the top rated station and the sale doesnt include the calls or intellectual property of WAYZ

WAYZ was on the 101.5 signal before the 104.7 frequency was acquired by Verstandig in 2000.

The 92.1 signal is the weakest of the two left. The 101.5 and 92.1 towers are in Pennsylvania so they don't hit Hagerstown perfectly. There are some terrain quirks in the metro for both signals.

Guess that WBHB goes to 92.1 to make room for 101.5 WAYZ.

Interesting that John is selling the frequency. Doubt the next generation of the family has much interest in broadcast radio, and the value of that stick is probably not going to go up anytime soon.

That 104.7 signal gets into the Gettysburg, Hanover, York area real good, which probably fills some holes in 95.1's coverage, which is directional south to protect 94.9 up in Harrisburg. That poor 92.1 signal sure has been changed around a lot the last decade or so.

As someone streaming WBHB right this second, I'm afraid that this may well be what happens. I've got a radio sitting at my parents' house specifically for when their stream has issues and it gets the 101.5 signal fine, but 92.1, not so much.

WAYZ moves to 101.5 September 16th, Bob Rocks moves to 92.1 September 1st.

They started announcing September 1 on WBHB yesterday or the day before. Really unfortunate.

With WBHB being one of the higher rated stations in the market, I just can't see them being satisfied with the coverage of that 92.1 stick. It gets Chambersburg ok, Hagerstown kinda sorta, but past Chambersburg is a no go. Verstandig has what, 3 million something to play with now? Who wants to sell a station? There's not too many choices, the only 2 that stick out in my mind would be 103.7 up in Mcconnellsburg or 93.3 in Chambersburg, and I lean more towards 93.3. First, looking at the coverage of that one combined with 92.1 and you cover a large chunk of the same area as 101.5, more so than 92.1 alone or in combination with 103.7. Two, I could see WITF/Pennon being willing to offload it in exchange for a couple million just given how shaky things have been looking for the public media world lately. That's just my opinion.

Why would they sell just to turn around and blow most of that money buying another station?
