Oregon Is 94.7 flipping to sport?

KFXX is an Audacy-owned Sports station. And the last few years, Audacy has been giving FM simulcasts to its AM spoken-word stations, news, talk and sports. The latest was KMOX St. Louis in March.

So it looks like Portland is the next up to bat. And 94.7 KNRK is the lowest rated of Audacy's five FM stations in Portland.

I wonder why Alternative 94.7 KNRK was saved and Hot AC 105.1 KRSK was sacrificed?

No more Hot AC In Portland? Although it does have two Top 40 stations, which is unusual. And each of their ratings is better than Bella. Z100 and KBFF are in the 3's while Bella is in the 2's.

So, late nights and weekends, there'll be three frequencies carrying ESPN Radio in Portland, all owned by Audacy: 910 KMTT, 1080 KFXX and 105.1 KRSK. I thought Audacy had a financial interest in the Infinity Sports Network, formerly CBS Radio Sports. Nearly all of Audacy's sports stations are Infinity affiliates. That's left over from when the CBS Radio-owned stations simply carried their own company's sports network.

As a longtime sports radio/tv guy. Maybe it’s a Portland thing. But I find these hosts very vanilla. Plus, if you’re going to launch a station on the first day of Big Ten Media Days, it probably helps to have boots on the ground and coverage from Vegas to go back and forth with hosts on scene.

Are you thinking Seattle? I’ve always thought Portland was home for Hot AC and Voodoo Donuts
My last client before I retired was in Portland and I was there often. So, yes, I meant Portland. It's a wonderful city, though its downtown really needs a boost post-pandemic.

Because KNRK makes more money perhaps? And fits a cluster sales strategy better with KGON, Fan, and Charlie?

And two of which are mostly irrelevant at this point. The ESPN affiliation is a holdover on KFXX/KMTT from when Colin Cowherd was on their lineup. Plus Alpha's 750 KXTG carries Infinity programming.

Good. Bella was a stupid brand. Now maybe they'll do something about Emma in Seattle (they should've just kept that The Sound, even if they shifted their format)
I don’t know…I like the uniqueness of it. Better than just reviving Star, Mix or some other tired branding that had already been used. (And the name fits a common name during when their target demo was born.) Combined with the “Jack”-esque imaging, it makes sense to have a female version of it.

And the Sound had a reputation of being soft. If you’re going with an outright playlist change, it’s best for the branding to change.

Yeah, The Sound had a reputation for airing soft, but they still could've kept it like they kept the call letters. Or they could've just brought Charlie to Seattle with new call letters.

The imaging kind of creeps me out a little - oh look, my ex is on the Free Audacy app...whoopee...yeah, I'll just stick to 106.9.
