WWDX (Huntingdon, TN)

The "tree falling in a forest" analogy applies here. I seriously doubt that anyone there would miss that station if it suddenly went away.
When it was on. It simply simulcast WEIO, and I wonder if I'm the only one to notice it was off.

Looks like someone worked on WEIO sometime this week, as the low audio level has been corrected, and it sounds normal again.

The newspaper article says the real estate where the stations were located is under contract to be sold. The stations themselves have not been sold at this time, but are available.

Sometime recently, the WEIO FM tower on Baker Road near Huntingdon was taken down. I noticed this the other day while passing through. It was still up a few weeks ago. The FCC currently shows WEIO as licensed and silent. The WWDX AM tower near Downtown Huntingdon still remains.

It's almost November, 2025 as I write this, so the WWDX silent STA that was filed earlier this year should be up. Although the station is still silent, the record I brought up still shows it as licensed.

Sister station WEIO 100.9 FM went off the air earlier this year, and the license has been deleted. This is discussed in another thread.

Everything is frozen during the government shutdown so even if the year is up, nothing could be filed or acted on.

But also, no, WEIO has not been deleted. It was simply taken silent.

Does the owner of WWDX own the land where the tower is located?

The real estate property where the stations were located is/was under contract to be sold. The WEIO tower at that location was recently taken down and removed from the property. The WWDX AM transmitter site is closer to Downtown Huntingdon (not far from Walmart) and still remains. I'm not sure that Freeland owns the property where the AM site is located.

Well, here we are a year later on WWDX's silent STA.

"On March 3, 2025, Licensee, Freeland Broadcasting Co., Inc., was made aware that WWDX is off the air due to technical damage at the antenna site. At this time, the road to the antenna is impassable. As such, Licensee requests authority to remain silent for a period of 180 days to allow access the site, determine the nature of the problem, and explore solutions to return the station to licensed operations."
