Days of Our Lives Renewed for 2 Seasons

Days of Our Lives has been renewed for 2 more seasons. It will continue to be aired on Peacock.

DOOL is currently in its 60th season. It debuted on NBC September 8, 1965.

I don't care much for the storyline changes made at DOOL. It's become way too serious with very little comic relief. No more over the top, preposterous, fun to watch storylines. Remember the devil possession, and the serum created by mad scientist Rolf that brought back to life the dead bodies of past characters. It's basically just about interpersonal relationships, with the occasional murder. The on air deaths and funerals of the late John Aniston, Bill Hayes, and Drake Hogestyn have added to the downright depressing state of things. Also gone are my favorite characters that have been written off the show.

Sounds like The Young and the Restless lately... a lot of fans are not amused at killing off Chance (as well as to a lesser extent, the deaths of Damien and Cole). The irony is that the man who plays Chance is going to Days on Peacock. He probably got a better deal... regardless, that about ends the Chancellor family storyline for the long-time soap.

These stories were 25-30 years ago! The story arc where John Black discovered he was a priest and exorcised Marlena was in 1995, and Dr. Rolf first appeared in 1997 to reanimate Roman.

If you think DOOL writing has been lost for that long, probably time to stop watching.

Wrong. The devil possession storyline was revived about 3-4 years ago. Doug (Bill Hayes) was first, followed by Marlena, and then Johnny, until John Black exorcised the demon. The serum storyline was also brought back around the same time. They came up with some new ones, like Cassie holding people imprisoned in a dungeon. And the ome where crazy Kristen goes around disguised as different characters with the realistic masks she created where you can't tell if it's really them. And poor Gwen, as the nanny hell bent on revenge, destroying everyone in her path.

I had never watched the show until I started working from home during the pandemic.

The demon storylines were great, especially the special effects.

I wish there was a Cla’ence Update podcast for DOOL. That site has some other cool soap opera type audio, like “It’s Your World”, complete with suspenseful organ music….

Which soap had the storyline where two people were locked in a restaurant’s kitchen walk in freezer?

That walk in freezer storyline sounds familiar, and from looking online, it appears to be 'Neighbors'.

Yes ..Cla'rence! He started out doing the most hysterical updates of 'All My Children' (a show I was a big fan of). They used to air in the late 80's and 90's. I remember first hearing them during the KROY morning show in Sacramento.

Read his story about how he got put on Z-100 by Scott Shannon here, along with more audio files:

Fair enough. I haven't watched the show since I move out of my parents' place, except for maybe a couple of minutes on a holiday.

Technically Eric Brady exorcised the demon this time. Remember, that’s why he got defrocked. Again. Redefrocked. Something that probably only happens in a soap opera. I hope.

NBC needs to bring back Days on the main channel has better ratings than that flop NC News Daily been epic fail for NBC in the ratings and not making money just like GMA3 as well. And for the record I haven't watched Days in years when it was still on NBC.

The show has been kinda boring lately. The writing needs to get better. However, I would love to see ratings for the countless hour of NBC infotainment compared to the last days ratings on NBC.

That is never, ever going to happen. NBC News Daily is proving to be a better fit for the network and affiliates. And there’s a very good reason Days was shuffled off to Peacock.

Killing that character was the least idiotic thing about the story. The comically bad “hedge maze,” the incoherent story, the train nonsense….that was laughably bad even for a low budget.

You're right RE Y&R. Who benefits from all of this craziness? Why, Victor Newman, of course. That's why I call the 12:30 ET CBS soap "The Victor Show" sometimes.
