Arizona TV Station Update - July 2025

As always, questions, additions, comments and corrections welcome.

Programming Changes
  • KTVW-DT 33.x Phoenix (KTVW License Partnership GP) has added channels 33.3 and 33.7 to its lineup, airing HSN and MovieSphereGold, respectively. The MovieSphere Gold website (moviespheregold.com) erroneously lists their network on channel 33.3.
  • KUVE-DT 46.x (34) Green Valley (Univision Tucson LLC) has added MovieSphere Gold to its lineup on channel 46.4, which had not been in the lineup before. Between May 4 and June 8, KUVE also added the BT2 infomercial network on channel 46.7, a change overlooked in the May/June update.
  • KUVE-CD 42.x (36) Tucson (Univision Tucson LLC) has replaced hidden channel 42.4, labeled in the Virtual Channel Table as NADA, and flagged as hidden, with MovieSphere Gold. It is now labeled as such and no longer flagged as hidden.
  • KFPB-LD 31.x (30) Gila River Indian Co (Globe LPTV LLC) has added channel 31.8 to its lineup, bringing back the Enlace network, a Spanish-language Christian network last seen on KPAZ.
  • KBFY-LD 41.x (2) Yuma (KBFY LLC) has added MovieSphere Gold to its lineup on channel 41.1, according to the MovieSphere Gold website. The website has an error, though, placing KBFY-LD in Beaumont TX, and KUMJ-LD 23.x in Yuma.
  • KVPA-LD 42.x (34) Phoenix (Bridge News LLC) has dropped RNTV from its lineup on channel 42.10, replacing it with ZLiving. Channel 42.16 is now an infomercial channel.
  • K14RK-D Phoenix (Good News Broadcasting Network Inc.) has replaced lighthouse programming on channel 38.7 with GNTV-2.
  • KHDF-CD 19.x Las Vegas NV (HC2 Station Group Inc.) has replaced Timeless TV with MovieSphere Gold on channel 19.1, according to their subchannel listings page.
  • KNBX-CD 31.x (14) Las Vegas NV (HC2 Station Group Inc.) has replaced Timeless TV with MovieSphere Gold on channel 31.1, according to their subchannel listings page.
  • K36NE-D 43.x Las Vegas NV (HC2 Station Group Inc.) has replaced CRTV with MovieSphere Gold on channel 43.2, according to their subchannel listings page.
  • The following translators of KTVX 4.x Salt Lake City UT now air Antenna TV on channel 4.2 instead of MeTV:
    • K09SU-D 4.x Hildale UT (Nexstar Broadcasting Inc.)
    • K23NY-D 4.x St. George UT (Nexstar Broadcasting Inc.)
    • K28EA-D 4.x Washington UT (Nexstar Broadcasting Inc.)
    • K32DC-D 4.x Kanab UT (Western Kane County Service District #1)
  • The following translators of KSTU 13.x Salt Lake City UT now air Ion Television on channel 13.2 instead of Antenna TV:
    • KKRP-LD 13.x (21) St. George UT (KSTU License LLC)
    • KVBT-LD 13.x (26) Santa Clara UT (Scripps Broadcasting Holdings LLC)
    • K25PA-D 13.x St. George UT (KSTU License LLC)
    • K33NT-D 13.x Kanab UT (Western Kane County Service District #1)
Construction Permits and Special Temporary Authorizations (STAs) Granted
  • KNXV-TV 15.x Phoenix (Scripps Broadcasting Holdings LLC) requested and has been granted a construction permit to build auxiliary facilities from an adjacent Scripps-owned tower. Technical specifications: Ch 15; TL 33° 20' 1" N, 112° 3' 47" W (South Mtn.); ERP 21 kW Max DA HP 0.75° EBT; HAAT 538 m / 1,764 ft.
  • KHSV 21.x (2) Las Vegas NV (Channel 33 Inc.) requested and has been granted a modification to its license, allowing it to change channels from VHF 2 to UHF 23. Technical specifications: Ch 23; TL 36° 0' 31" N 115° 0' 20" W (Black Mtn.); ERP 1000 kW H / 250 kW V EP 1.5° EBT; HAAT 386 m / 1,266 ft.
  • KEYI-LD 35.x Las Vegas NV (Mountain Ridge Holdings Inc.) requested and has been granted a Silence STA, claiming that the station went off air July 2 due to mechanical vibrations near the mask filter causing irreparable damage to the mask filter, shorting the output of the transmitter and melting the cables from the power amplifiers.
Rule Making
  • The FCC has approved rule making restoring VHF channel 9 to the Table of Allotments in Las Vegas NV, meaning that KVVU-TV officially can remain on VHF channel 9.
Canceled, Dismissed, Expired, Expiring and Withdrawn
  • KEGS-LD 30.x (24) Las Vegas NV (HC2 Station Group Inc.) has withdrawn its tolling request and canceled its amendment to its construction permit to move to VHF channel 8 that requested tolling. The construction permit will be allowed to expire, which it was set to due in March 2025.

31.8 is actually not a new Subchannel. It was airing infomercials before. Those infomercials have now moved to 50.8 replacing the short lived ShopLC Subchannel on KDVD-LD.

Merit Street just filed with the Bankruptcy Court to reject (terminate) its broadcast agreement with KAZT starting today. So I expect it will be taken off KAZT sometime this weekend. The KAZT agreement was kind of redundant to begin with in my opinion since they are also on TBN's KPAZ, but I guess KAZT did give them additional coverage in Northern Arizona.

Of course, you are correct. I had the Globe LPTV stations mixed up with the HC2 stations, which have seven subchannels each.

A little update to add to this is 33.3 is HSN, 33.4 is Confess, 33.6 is BT2 and 33.7 is MovieSphere Gold. I can pick all of these new channels up on my TV but they are not coming in on my Legacy Tablo.

The reason why they are not coming in on your Legacy Tablo is probably because they are broadcast in H264 MPEG4/AVC rather than MPEG2. So only newer TVs and Tuners can decode the video. Some older TVs will pick them up as Audio only because they can decode the AAC Audio, but not the H264 Video.

Thanks for the reply, I am getting 33.1 and 33.2. Interesting. Thank you.

That is absolutely correct. KTVW is broadcasting the major networks (Univision and Unimas, both 33.2 and 35.1) in MPEG-2, while HSN on 33.3, Confess on 33.4, BT2 on 33.6 and MovieSphere Gold on 33.7 are all AVC (a.k.a. H264, MPEG-4).
