Today (8-5-25) I drove through Jacksonville, on my way to the TAB Convention. KEBE is still off the air, as it's 104.7 translator. Since I owned it at one time, it makes me sad. At least, the grass was mowed around the transmitter site.

I'm surprised to hear 104.7 is off the air. At last check, it continued on after the AM went silent. I've heard it with my own ears, and has been confirmed by KKJX owner Bill Betten.
On a more personal note, Chuck, I'm sorry you couldn't make a go of it in J'Ville with KEBE. I know the town was a hard nut to crack, not being from there yourself. I just wish you'd have had a little more time as its caretaker. All you have to do is look at the current situation with "Great FM", the former KEBE-FM. Selling spots left and right. Less than a year on the air and really coming into its own now.
KEBE, thanks in part to you selling it to Dick Witkovski, is in the scrap heap. Dead. Never to return. This isn't what Dudley Waller wanted, and is very much why it was you chosen to carry on the legacy of KEBE.
Well, so much for plans, but do know that there are many older Tylerites (myself included) that have a button firmly dedicated for 1490/95.7 K-DOK. I hear it regularly at businesses like the O'Reilly on Front, Fuzzy's down on Old Troup, and a couple others that I can't pinpoint right this second.
I am one of many here that are thankful you've stuck it out with KYZS and brought its heritage sound back to the forefront.

Tried to find the coverage for 104.7 on radio -locator but nothing is shown since its on a STA.. any decent coverage of people? I was interested in the translators that were part of that deal.

Anyone trying that would be met with opposition, @radioislife2020. K280CL and K284CT are expired, under terms of the license. K284CT is attached to KEBE by the AM revitalization window and can not use any other primary other than 1400. K280CL last rebroadcasted KTLU, now DKTLU, at Rusk. Primary station change was done to attach it to KEBE, but for naught, given it, too, has been silent since July 16, 2022.
So, we're all clear, I am a part of a group who would oppose anyone resurrection of Mr. Waller's former baby, at this point, and have the audio recordings (taken each day from the heart of the city of Jacksonville) in proof of its continued silence for the last 3 years and 1 month, to ensure the license is revoked for it and the two translators attached to it. That will mortify me the day it occurs, but that's what will happen to ensure the signal's heritage is not tarnished further.
Speaking solely for myself here, the only reason nothing has been submitted to the FCC against Dick Witkovski's continued stewardship of 1400, is that if what we have compiled were to be confirmed by the Commission, the license would be immediately revoked for it and 103.9/104.7.
Sorry, bud. Keep all the fun and games down there in Houston. KEBE will be long-deleted before any Houston-style shenanigans were to ever be allowed on that historic ETX signal.
Ok so when was the last time KEBE was on the air?

Based on the FCC's actions with other call signs that went so far as to be deleted, I highly doubt you and your "group" have the pull in Washington that you think you do.
If someone wants it back bad enough, they'll get it.
Thanks for the nice words. What happened to KEBE wasn't my plan, but I guess, it is what it is. Perhaps I bit off more than I could chew. when I owned KEBE. Between QX-FM, K-DOK and the Texas Broadcast Museum, I keep pretty busy. At least, I'm not bored to death....

Who said any of us has any pull in Washington? No sir, instead of any falsely perceived pull, it's more like 367 days (September xx, 2022 - September xx, 2023) of recorded audio files, taken in 10 minute sample increments each day, between the hours of 12:00 noon and 18:00. You know what's on the recordings? A very, very poor reception of KGVL, airing classic hits as "EZ Rock 105.9" at midday, under a heavy bed of static, and all static, with occasional Spanish-language music coming up out of the floor, each evening. All recorded from a dwelling on Larissa Road, firmly inside of the Jacksonville city limits.
Documented proof is what the FCC requires and is exactly what the folks in Houston never bothered to gather in order to keep the renegade broadcasters down there in line. This has nothing to do with any perceived "pull", partner. This is the steps someone who knows what they are doing would take in order to file a successful opposition to a forthcoming radio station sale to a facility that, by law, should no longer exist.
If the right suitor were to come along and offer to buy it from Witkovski, nobody from this party of concerned broadcasters would likely stand in the way. I guess the next question to pose is who's among the ranks that qualify as the "right party"?
For that answer, I guess we'll all have to wait for when, or if, a license reassignment is ever sent in to the Commission for KEBE (and/or it's two associated translators), or NTRG simply cuts bait and retires Jacksonville's 1400 AM for good.

You are a tremendous ambassador for the rest of us here in ETX, Chuck. Just know that there are plenty of us that are mighty proud, and in sheer awe, of what you've been able to put together over there in Kilgore. You, sir, are an amazing person, broadcaster, and East Texan.
Witkowski wants 135k for KEBE and the 2 translators. Reality doesnt seem to be in the vicinity of Witkowski. He has turned in 2 other licenses because no buyers would pay his priceā¦.

Aunt, uncle, and cousins lived in Mexia. Sure lost a little of its charm when the roundabout at U S. 84 and 14 was removed. The townspeople have made light of the various ways people say the name. I believe the town's motto is "No matter how you say it, it's a great place to live!" It's ok to visit. I'll leave the living there to the natives. My family, being the Groesbeck-born, Limestone County country folk they were, called Mexia "Muh-hair". My grandmother was born in a community that is a ghost town. Called Horn Hill, in between Mexia and Groesbeck.
Like Huff, I've never heard this variant. It's an even split of Wocks-a-hatch-ee or Wax-a-hatch-ee pronunciations I've heard in regular conversations involving it.
Kosse - It's Kah-see. I've heard it called Coe-see or Coe-say. Transplants, you know.š
How, Bill, can you mention Kuykendahl Road in Spring, but leave Fuqua in South Houston off? š² I'll give everyone a second to take it in. It's "Few-kway". Mispronounced "Foo-kway", "Foo-koo-uh" and a couple other seedy ones not really fitting for this particular conversation.
You and I were taught the same way. Either way, it's still mighty beautiful when the bluebonnets are in season.
Another aunt of mine lived in Humble on Wilson Rd. She always said the name of the town was "Um-ble", named for the oil company headquartered in Houston which, itself, tends to get mispronounced as "U-stun" instead of "hue-stun". Everybody I ever knew, or associated with, down there in Humble pronounced Humble without the H.
I have a pretty decent "erb" garden going on here at the homestead. The mint is currently sending that amazing smell wafting all around the property.

Dude, no it cant. Its a Class C AM it is doing the only thing it can now. The translator is locked to it and locked to Jacksonville. A town of less than 12k . The bigger issue is that it pretty much doesnt have a valid license. The Rusk translator license expired after being off since 2023 and never filing a resumption of operation. As Rosecitymedia said KEBE has been off since June of 2023. If a transfer is filed they will see invalid licenses.
