More KNBR Studio Drama

Forgive me for not following the hometown drama lately, but am I reading correctly that (a) the Giants have kicked KNBR out of Oracle Park space AND (b) the 49ers have withdrawn (or disavowed) an offer to let KNBR use Levi's Stadium space for studios? Both things? Both?

If I'm not misunderstanding this -- and I'm being pedantic for a purpose -- two major teams, with ownership interests in their stadiums, doing this to their own broadcast partner, would seem to be telegraphing* a very loud message about some dissatisfaction with KNBR and/or their Cumulus overlords, no?

* (look it up in your Funk & Wagnalls, kids)
 
OK, two thoughts: (1) Initially I read the headline, not the article. (Which is my bad for trusting SFGate.) (2) Maybe Copeland should invest some of his Big Broadcasting Bucks in a mirror? Just reading the quotes, I'm surprised it took the team this long to evict him. He sounds like a --- what's the current term of art? --- spoiled nepo bro.
 
"The Bunker" is actually a small ... well, it's a crummy-looking little bunker, just behind home plate, under the stands. It's not fancy, but fans in the "good seats" can wander by, and players sometimes walk by.

The first time I was down there, many years ago, Giants manager Felipe Alou walked right past me; I believe the word "herrgh" came from my mouth after he said "hello." That was the night of the infamous Larry Krueger BDCHHASN rant on the post-game show. (If you're not familiar, look it up. Krueg was launched into exile, made it back from Radio Nowheresville ... and then was let go again. Such is life; such is radio.)

Between you and me, teams are on the verge of no longer thinking radio is that damn important any more. I can drive around here in California listening to Pat Hughes doing a Cubs game from Wrigley or Will Flemming doing a Red Sox game from Fenway with Apple Car Play in higher fidelity than I could get if I was sitting in Belmont next to the KNBR transmitter.

It used to be "hit the second button" on the radio and there was KNBR. I can't remember the last time I listened to the station – probably the day Tom Tolbert said his goodbyes. Now, Tolbert does a podcast ... as does Krueger, and John Lund, and Damon Bruce, and virtually anybody else worth listening to that KNBR and 95.7 The Game's owners can't afford to pay any more.

To paraphrase the up-and-coming Adam Copeland, "Dude ... whatevs."
