Perhaps, but at least George is calm and his topics are more interesting than hearing a manic host shout over the callers about topics of which he is marginally knowledgeable and he cannot even discuss because he is too busy being a motormouth.

WABC - What happened to Lionel, 2-5 am weekends

Lionel strikes me as a never-realized Phil Hartman Simpsons character like Lyle Lanley, Troy McClure, or Lionel Hutz ... only with some helium mixed into his air supply.
I once heard him explain that the reason he'd been off-air for a whole week was that he fried the inside of his mouth with a fistful of scalding pizza rolls.
Any time anyone mentions his name now, that's the first thing I visualize about him.

I do enjoy the way he takes the nut jobs who call in so seriously. I don't think you appreciate how difficult it must be to carry on a conversation with the insane as they tell you about their ufo abduction, the ghost that comes to dinner with them, the hole in the earth in their back yard that goes down to hell and they've see it. Perhaps that's the reason for his sleepy calm demeanor. He doesn't want to get the insane riled up. I can listen to that crap for a short period for it's entertainment value, but I'd be hard pressed to host a show like that for five hours without wanting to have a psychologist as a guess to describe the real issues behind the callers.
Does George ever take callers who think AM radio could get younger listeners if they just played music on AM, etc.?
Lionel thinks his verbosity is impressive. He is like all gibberish. He loves listening to himself talk. Plus he is so rude to every caller. He screams and shouts and yells and calls the callers names; he is headache inducing. He is like nails on a chalkboard and plus he sounds so angry and miserable. Everything triggers him. During the 1 AM to daylight hours, a listener wants a quieter show. Allison Steele? How long before WABC gets rid of him?

Nope. Because nobody thinks that. Of course I may be wrong because his listeners believe in UFOs and ghosts. If they can believe in that crap, they may very well believe in AM radio

As long as this subject is on a literal pizza roll, here's one that burns my ears:
I listened for about 20 minutes in my car. It is just too noisy with that loud yelling. I like an Alison Steele vibe at that hour. He sounds like a curmudgeon trying to impress the other residents in an assisted livng home.
