Jack was a fixture on the air at the many AM stations in Daytona Beach, and later at I-100 FM and 106.7 FM in Orlando - over a 'part time career' that spanned 4 decades. At a time in my life when I could find no reason to go on living, he gave me one. His Christian faith was infectious and unshakeable. I am who I am today, largely because of Jack. He died last year after a bad fall. He often said he would "never see death" and in fact, he didn't. He was found unconscious and kept alive in a hospital until there was no hope of reviving him. I pray for his soul every day, and miss his friendship and sage advice - we knew each other for 47 years. I am confident I will see him again in the kingdom to come, and when we're all resurrected into our glorified form. I love you, Jack - you were the older brother I wish I had.
 
Not Orlando, but Daytona Beach - and technically, 'Palatka' on 99.9 MHz (not 100.3 - the old 'DIZ', which was a corruption of 'Disney' that Disney tried unsuccessfully to sue them for). There's a big stick near Palatka they were broadcasting from that covered Jacksonville beaches, all the way south to Merrit Island and west to Gainesville and Ocala - one of the last Class 'C' 100,000 watt station licenses. If you were in Zellwood, Apopka or Sanford, I think it came in pretty strong. They've since relocated to another, smaller tower closer to Jax - why, I have no earthly clue, but that stupid 'Froggy' C&W format makes me embarrassed to say I was once a radio dee-jay...

Jacksonville has a much larger radio revenue base than Daytona.

A good example is Beaumont, TX, where many full power FMs moved as close to Houston as possible. There is more money in being #20 in Houston than being "Top 5" in Beaumont/Port Arthur/Orange.
