CBS Leaving Ch 46

Remember that was the Analog days when "V" stations did "better" OTA. Atlanta was a little different thanks to Ted Turner's channel 17.

Yes! I remember the VHF stations were “clickers” on the Magnaxox TV we had, and you had to click to the “U” to get 14-69. And that was an art form. UHF didn’t “click,” it rolled.

Sometimes UHF had a click once you flipped to the U. The first week the evening news will be preempted 4 nights out of the first7 without CBS. if they not going to consistantly do news 9-11:30pm how will that help the establishment of local 46 WANF.Only 90 minutes at 10pm today due to high school football. Only the 9pm hour on Tuesday due to WNBA and then cutting the 9pm news in half on Thursday for the same reason. Then Multiple weeks of High School Football blocking out Friday evenings like this week the 11pm news moves to 11:30 and thats it. Looking into week 2 it appears the 9-11:30pm block will actually happen

Rolled, drifted, and was very susceptible to adjacent- or near-channel interference, where you had such a situation (as with in between two markets). The detent "click" tuners first came on the scene in the mid-1970s.

Surely once they get a local newscast, CBS will do a major billboard and radio campaign to make the 20% of us that had cut the cord and use the free OTA aware that the CBS programs are on 69. There still are folks without school age children on vacation out of town. Others are outside after after 7pm (when it only hot, not healthy challenging hot) doing activities.

Yes, WTCG-TV 17 was a powerhouse in the 1970s and known throughout the south and outside of Atlanta, first thanks to the importation of its signal via microwave to CATV systems, then, of course via satellite. Visiting my cousins who lived in Rome, Ga. and Fayetteville, Ga., during the 1970s, I was always envious they had access to such a great independent station.

The issue is that streamers such as YTTV don't do deals with individual stations, but rather nationally with networks. Am I correct that WUPA isn't on YTTV right now? It will be added in the morning when it picks up CBS.
Actually, 69 has always been on YTTV. However, we’ve never had channel 36.

Perhaps it’s more WANF and less Gray but I can’t stand the weather segments. Feel it’s more about the person telling it vs the science/technology behind the delivery. They constantly mispronounce towns and incorrectly name counties they point to. I get it though - There is an audience that just wants to know if it’s going to rain with a pretty face delivering the message but there severe weather coverage is cringe and the weather wall maps have poor resolution.

Again, I think it’s more ANF vs Gray because other Gray stations behave/look much different.

Is it just me or is the weather "set" poorly lit, or was it just a makeup malfunction. The other night Patrick Pete had some serious shadows under his eyes. They get Monica Pearson looking like she did at Channel 2. IIRC Tracey Huchins didn't have "eye shadows" last time I saw her on 46.

Maybe someone else with better education can explain it but I flipped around tonight on my TV and 11Alive and WSB far exceed picture quality and resolution vs Fox 5 and ANF. Got to be a more technical reason. Resolution on 2 & 11 is so good it picks up on the makeup work on the guys! Chris Holcomb has it caked on!

I could be wrong but it could be the studio lighting due to the weather wall being all video vs green screen.

I thought their lighting would be with the "white plastic frosting" over the front was supposed to light without glare. This is a recently remodeled studio one would think they could accommodate the video screens. Last night he had on black glasses so it hard to tell if the shadows were from poor lighting or the glases. I will have to catch Rodney actually doing the weather to see if has the same issue.

Well, that makes since to move the Atlanta Dream games over to WANF to not pre-empt CW programing anymore. That is what I thought they would do going independent. Plus, airing highschool football is good as well. It shows they are all local now.
