Is 89X returning? Rumours floating around that Country might not be on 89 FM much longer...
I doubt it, but do they need to? They could solicit ad buys remotely. The question is would Bell actually reopen the Detroit sales office?
I’ve personally heard no word of Bell completely exiting Windsor. When they did their most recent large-scale sell-off, they sold off radio stations that didn’t have a CTV/CTV 2 station attached. They still have CTV 2 there, and radio is used mostly as a promotional vehicle. Unless they’re deeply committed to even getting out of markets outside the core markets up to about Halifax, I can’t see them leaving - not yet, anyway. It makes sense if Bell is selling off the Windsor cluster. They already dumped CKWW and that station is being locally programmed again.
Because Bell isn't really into radio anymore, let alone with any sense of localism, I can't see any scenario where 89X comes back, or it comes back and is not a format-in-a-can.
It may also depend on the return on the investment.I’ve personally heard no word of Bell completely exiting Windsor. Thanks! Hopefully the official format change will also pop up on You Tube or maybe even Format change archive...The flip will apparently take place this Thursday at 8:08 a.m.
