There is actually a Spanish newscast that is aired Monday-Friday at 6:30 PM on My15 WTCN-TV (over-the-air channel 43.1) produced by WPEC CBS 12.I certainly wouldn't want to go up against WLTV or WSCV with one or two newscasts a day.
There is, however, an interesting case up the coast in West Palm Beach, where there's no local newscast in Spanish on Univision or Telemundo, just simulcasts of Miami. So Sinclair's WPEC offers an evening newscast in Spanish on one of its LPTVs that's otherwise in English.
I don't know if it gets much in the way of ratings, but it seems like a useful service for a community that otherwise wouldn't have one.
New York - Market 1 WNBC Virtual Channel 4 (originally on RF 28) sold its frequency in the last repack and is the secondary on Telemundo Virtual Channel 47 (RF 35).How many top 30 TV markets have one of the big 4 OTA networks on an .2? I know it happens in small markets.
But it isn’t X.2 like smaller markets do. My market (Mankato, MN) as example CBS is 12.1 and Fox is 12.2.New York - Market 1 WNBC Virtual Channel 4 (originally on RF 28) sold its frequency in the last repack and is the secondary on Telemundo Virtual Channel 47 (RF 35).

This is a big, big win for WSVN.
Will 7.1 and 7.2 share some local newscasts, or will the two stations' newscasts be mutually exclusive (similar to CBS 4 and Fox 59 in Indianapolis)?
WSVN’s current newscasts, branded as 7 NEWS, will air on both WSVN and ABC Miami.

Why?ABC Miami will simulcast on channel 18.1 a low power station as well.

Possibly the quickest (and cheapest) option Sunbeam has without having to purchase an full power station that can take months to even be done. And even then there isn't any owners of the full power stations in the market that would be interested in selling their stations to Sunbeam so they can put ABC Miami on a .1ABC Miami will simulcast on channel 18.1 a low power station as well.

In this new world, they do not need to purchase a station. They are going to have full HD 7.1 and 7.2. There are many markets now where a network is on a .2. So, why the duplicate signal?Possibly the quickest (and cheapest) option Sunbeam has without having to purchase an full power station that can take months to even be done. I'm not sure I completely agree with that. I have been told that more and more people have been cutting the cord and using antennas. Well maybe not using antennas, but a lot of people have been cutting the cord. And if you're in that area, I think WJAR would probably come in better than WBTS.Yes, the situation causes a smidge of confusion, but only at the very southern end of the Boston market, and only for the small fraction of viewers in that area who use OTA reception.
It's been over eight years now. Everyone's pretty much figured it out.

That's an apples-to-oranges situation. WSVN had no choice but to go with lots of news because they were somehow under the illusion CBS would affiliate with them right up to when the network bought WCIX. They didn't buy enough programming to fill the gaps caused by the loss of NBC, a situation so embarrasing that their program director abruptly quit.Remember, after WSVN lost its NBC affiliation and before it became a FOX affiliate it was independent. WSVN chose news - lots of news - over syndicated programming - and it was very successful. Don't know what kind of news operation WPLG has these days but I'm betting they also will run a lot of news hours. That's actually very good for the community.
