K-Love Acquires B93.3 & FM102.1

Surely, one of these frequencies will be a placeholder for K-Love's sister network Air1 with no station locally (nearest Air1 station is 50 miles north in Sheybogan). Will Radio Nueva Vida also be in the offing in Milwaukee?

According to Nielsen the market is a little more than 10% Hispanic. I don't know the fund raising per targeted demographic rate is, but if I were in Nashville calling the shots at KLove,nI would have that figure and do the math. I suspect would Air 1 will bring in more donations in this city.

In today's deal that nobody saw coming...

Huge shocker!

Apparently, they're struggling to compete in a market with bigger players like IHeart, Audacy and Saga. They have been laying off people. Times Shamrock has also shed a few stations.

I am surprised Audacy didn't make an offer (if they were, in fact, approached). Granted, their money is tight, but they have room to expand and the two stations would seem like a good fit with KISS and The Mix. They'd also probably screw up both stations, but it's better than K-Love.

Also wondering what in the heck they're going to do with a broken AM and two translators that air a country format that's going nowhere. They'll probably sell off all three to other buyers (K-Love obviously wasn't interested). I'm sure IHeart would love to put WISN 1130 on FM translators. WZTI might be toast. Rumor has it, the floods two weeks ago really tore up the transmitter building. They've been off air ever since.

Whatever happens, radio in Milwaukee is going to become very, very boring. Moreso than it currently is.

What makes this more unbelievable is that KLove already has a very popular station in Milwaukee. WLVE is tied with WLUM at 3.7. So they don't really need two more stations. But obviously they see the market as ripe for their mission.

One more commercial alternative station bites the dust at a time when the format is under assault.

105.3 is licensed to Mukwonago with its tower in Waukesha. It is a very popular station, but with a lesser signal. Definitely not a VCY stick.

The 93.3 and 102.1 signals are quite superior to 105.3. Are there enough Spanish speakers in the current WLVE primary contour to justify Radio Nueva Vida, assuming K-Love and Air1 go to the other two signals?

Or (as is the case in the Chicago market) will one of these frequencies host one of the "K-Love Classics" (2000s, 1990s, 1980s) formats. (If that is the case, my betting would go with the K-Love 2000s format.)

I could really see k love trading one of these new signals to get into another market and using 105.3 for air 1. I expect the plan for k love will be 93.3 due to similar target audiences

They not adding boost. Boosts owners just stole a signal out from under kloves eyes in St. Louis. K love started the process to acquire Kdhx there and gateway sweeped in and won a court decision to get station for themselves to add a modern worship station to boost and ac formatted joy fm

More shocking to me is the apparent imminent dismantling of B93.3.

The folks at 99.1 WMYX have got to be thrilled that their most direct competitor is going away.
