The Trump Administration rants about ABC News And NBC, Says They Should Lose FCC Licenses

And water is wet. But the FCC is not set up to regulate non-linear content, and it puts the agency at a disadvantage.

Either they get Congress and the Senate to rewrite the rules entirely (which is very possible), or Carr and Trusty throw up their hands and say it's pointless to oversee linear content that's easily available online.

Being at a disadvantage or not legally able to do something hasn’t stopped this administration and in fact, seems to empower them more

Russia simply blocked all their websites, effectively shutting all of them down.
Think it can't happen here? See above.
It's already happening here. The United Kingdom is restricting internet access to anyone under the age of 18; Mississippi just enacted the same law, prompting Bluesky to restrict access to the platform in return.

ABC & NBC should take the government to court which is plain wrong in my opinion. Trump made that threat with NBC in 2017 and nothing happened then.
Well PBS, CPB, and NPR did sue the White House for interfering with the first amendment when the recessions now shutdown of CPB was in congress. But that threat is still waiting for the verdict in court.

look at the video. Putin is using the U S logo at the now.
I am afraid that's were we are heading.
Heading? We done did arrive. Someone says something on TV he dislikes, he threatens them personally with a targeted persecution prosecution. Then there’s the license nonsense which only exposes his abject ignorance of basic facts like how licenses work (I.e. he who hold them).

This is only going to get worse, with media (along with many other industries) bending the knee and corporate apologists shrugging off rapidly expanding authoritarianism as “just business.”

I noticed that originally, but then did a little research and found that it's proper protocol for a press conference conducted under the auspices of the federal government, regardless of whatever other countries are participating.

Believe me, if there was anything sinister about this, I would have already posted it. There isn't ... not this time, anyway.

He could should have used the Russian logo.

I oppose it, and im so far from conservative. I dont like the fact other places say whatever they want, get sued and lose.. but some of those organizations dont hold fcc licenses anyways. I also dont want the FCC involved in programming in any fashion.

I dont know what the magical answer is, but you give the government an inch, theyll take a mile

Also, the minute you take away free speech from others you dislike, you can lose it too....... and i might find what some broadcasters say disgusting, ive been dragged by a conservative host before for my association with "NPR". and no matter what i say, it wont change their minds.. so i let them have their facts.

yup.. 2am rage tweets about Seth Myers.. like wtf?

Correct. Below is video of the press conference with the British PM, and he too is standing at a podium with the US seal:

The audio system is under the auspices of WHCA, the white house communications agency. At one time, the mics were placed by the broadcaster who was responsible for the audio mult. Then Reagan made his famous hot mic comment about the bombs dropping in five minutes. After that, broadcasters were then forced to take the white house feed.

I don't believe England has ICBMs aimed at the US.

If it was such an issue, we shouldn't have met with him. As you can see, Putin is not meeting with Zelenskyy.

If you listen to the press conference Putin was very deferential, and talked about our long history as neighbors.
What a perfectly nice murderous tyrant that Putin is. So demure.

Another reason why Trump keeps going after the networks. Some of this is how they covered the FBI investigation on John Bolton a former advisor to Trump. Now why Trump Targeted ABC News and NBC News is anybody guess. There's no proof that John Bolton was going to specifically appear there one way or another except news crews assigned to cover him specifically or Cable talk shows wanting to get him to respond to the latest Trump issues.

And then, if he keeps to his usual behavior, he fires them for "contradicting" him.

This is what we need to keep in mind when formulating strategy. There is no pleasing him outside of total fealty. Any solutions have to go completely around him to even have a chance of working.

On the other hand, if he ever decides religious broadcasters are contrary to his interests -- I can easily see him deciding he is the only "God" in our nation -- I'd love to see EMF's reaction.
