WCCB Charlotte

Let it be a promo to tell you that it is official.

If this is the same one I saw while watching a show on Fox, it didn't make clear what was happening. The channel number is so small some people might think it's the Fox station making the switch.

My 12 has been advertising Fox shows and QC News for years.

Did FOX ever try and buy WCCB? before buying WJZY for it becoming a FOX O&O, I think WCCB should be fine as an indie in my opinion.
Back then WCCB was one of the FOX network's highest rated affiliates, so perhaps FOX may have pursued a direct acquisition but Bahakel refused to sell. Seems like that was unconfirmed speculation at the time. So FOX acquired WJZY from Capitol instead. Then later FOX sold WJZY and WMYT to Nexstar, the current owners now.

Someone on AVS Forum Charlotte Posted and said WCCB is now runing Promo Teasers about New WCCB coming Sept 1
There is no telling what they have planned…looks like WCCB News Rising is going away and other shows as well

I don’t expect them to change much with their daytime schedule. They have kind of been rolling out the same Maury type talk shows for years. They could start an evening newscast at 6 and move a few of their late night shows to prime time. I’m not sure how successful they will be going forward without being on streaming. The stations in Miami and Atlanta that went independent recently were dropped by the streaming services since they were no longer tied to a network.

Then you're looking at the wrong page.

I'm looking up TitanTV and has WCCB airing news on weekdays from 5-9am and 9-11pm starting September 1st.

Well, sure, you're on that side of the market. Those stations are too far away for me.

I've been reluctant to get an outdoor antenna because it seems hard to find someone to install one. I have trees. And what if something happens and the antenna needs repairing?
I had some friends put my antenna on the roof and I still get dropouts on all the stations even the strong signals like WBTV, WSOC and WCCB. It drives me crazy. Not sure what the signal problem is. I even have a cell phone filter in line.

May be overload from strong signals. Perhaps add an FM filter. Sold by Channel Master.
I don't think you need an amplifier, as that would make overload worse, if you already have strong signals.
And WBTV transmits from Gaston County and WSOC and WCCB transmit from Mecklenburg County. So you need to find a good sweet spot between the towers to avoid glitches. Or have separate antennas combined into a reverse splitter.
The Clearstream 2 or Clearstream 4 are good compact UHF loop antennas from Antennas Direct. The major CLT signals are UHF.

Brotha Fred is apparently returning to the WCCB Edge broadcast on Sept. 1st. Does this mean he is returning to Charlotte or staying with his radio show in Chicago? I believe he still works for iHeart, so they would be smart to bring him back to the mornings on 96.1.

I think it would be smart if they did

Fred can do his radio show from anywhere on the planet. So he can move to Charlotte and still do his Chicago show. These days, many announcers are not in the local studios - especially true of the big corporate owners like Cumulus, iHeart, etc.

It's unfortunate that WCCB has to run commercials for CW programming when it won't be there by the time the advertised shows actually air.

CW7 now ARC-WMI still did promos when Wild Cards was about to dubuted in Jan 24 when The CW moved from Sinclair WWMT DT2 to WOTV DT2, on Jan, 1, 2024.

Since he was popular during his previous tenure on 96.1, you would think they would consider returning him to the morning show, since the current program seems to struggle. Especially if he still works for iHeart.

I haven't seen any mention of the change on newscasts.
At the end of the Sunday night newscast they mentioned the new 9pm program and the new studio. But no mention of losing the CW. But increasing local news at 9:00 and adding SVU at 8:00 seems to fill the 2 hour gap. So not really a major loss, except maybe some CW sports broadcasts. But the new studio looks very nice and the Edge is back with the old hosts and Brotha Fred. I think they will survive just fine.
