KPUT Provo

KPUT is currently being sold by Alex Media to North Point Broadcasting LLC. Filed to today is an upgrade that will launch 92.9 from a site giving full Provo coverage along with a big chunk of Orem. At 702 m HAAT it will need just 1510 watts ERP for C2. (KPUT was relaying KAFZ Ash Fork, AZ for a few years as a placeholder.)

The new owners of KPUT (North Point Broadcasting LLC) today filed to take the station silent while the move (and upgrade) the transmitter facility to a new site. Any idea as to the future format?

Interesting FCC posting today from KPUT :

"KPUT-FM Resumption of Operations Statement . KPUT-FM resumed broadcast operations on August 6, 2025 pursuant to its underlying FCC license BLH-20150625ABY".

This is the "legacy" site north of Nephi with just 100 watts ERP, not the targeted C2 site northeast of Mt Nebo. At 1600 watts ERP, this new site would deliver Provo coverage. This new site would be co-located with KKUT 93.7 "The Wolf"

I noticed today a subscriber-only listing at radiotvdeals.com : "LMA- New Full-Power FM--Provo, Utah"

Per the FCC API test page the popcounts are 346 K in the F(50,50) 60 dBu , 68 K in the F(50,50) 70 dBu. The Longley-Rice numbers are lower : 236,009 in the 60 dBu. The mountain terrain may cause shadowing in Spanish Fork, Springville , and Mapleton. Provo is fine. I would definitely do some signal surveys in that region before signing any lease. KPUT would be one of those station where a booster might come in handy to fill-in those shadow zones.

The title of the market is Salt Lake City-Ogden-Provo:

The FCC granted KPUT's C2-level License-To-Cover. Anyone hearing it? Website? Streaming? Like I posted earlier, KPUT will need some shadow-fill-in boosters to make things work correctly.

While I can't answer the posed question (I don't live in the area), I can tell you that I do find KPUT's being clearance to have a signal in both Provo and Orem to be off-putting. Why? Because when I was in that area (the last trip was in 2011), you could hear, even with a moderate receiver, the Logan, UT/Preston, ID FM stations, including Logan's 92.9, from Provo through Orem on I-15.

I’m going to be flipping/launching Jan/01 I was in Provo a few days ago and the signal was solid no complaints on my end . Website and social media coming soon .
