Cumulus Media launches new website and it looks horrible

Wow, IMHO I never thought Cumulus Media could be this lazy and incompetent. Apparently they launched a new website for their radio stations and they just look plain awful and bland. Who is running Cumulus Media and when did they become lazy in the User experience and interface department?

Maybe you can be specific because I just checked several Cumulus websites, and they haven't changed at all. The still have "Sweet Deals" on it. The layout is exactly the same. No changes.

Cumulus has been gradually rolling out the new templates over the past several months. They are using one of the default templates by third party service provider SoCast, which acquired their previous provider in early 2024. The issue is that many of their local clusters have nobody to produce the necessary content for the websites, whereas most other of the large groups have placed the websites at the corporate level of control.

I've noticed this too. It's quite uninspiring and if there isn't much content looks very 'Spartan'. A plain white background and very generic look. The logos aren't even sized right necessarily. The change happened last month.

I'm glad you mentioned that, because I missed that story when it happened. Here it is

I checked KNBR's site and it's definitely a different template. Plus it has the SoCast logo in the footer. Cumulus had used Triton's AMP system previously, and then it was bought by Frankly. The original Triton templates were very basic WordPress-based themes. The KNBR site has a lot of local content.

KNBR is now using the SoCast template. What's even more interesting is that they've removed all of the station branding from its site in favor of just TheSportsLeader.com and logo although that happened back in May before the template switch.

They're still using the old template in Dallas, but it looks like it won't include call letters in the future.

They'll probably drop the frequency info next, just like KNBR.

Just a note---hate to be picky---but if you're going to post something about a website, it takes next to no time for you to post the link so that everyone can see what you're talking about.

The internet is a wondrous thing.
Every reference to a specific site in this thread DOES have a link.

Nothing impressive but it's cleaner than the old template.

Of course, I'm sure the Triple A audience of KBXR is really interested in the new Limp Bizkit album (top news story in the feed) but whatevs.
What's impressive is that BXR still has three local hosts during the day. What, did Cumulus forget to let them go during their previous rounds of eliminating air staff. And it's a small market to boot!

One of those hosts pulls double-duty on the AM station in the cluster. I don't know about the others.

You also have to realize that it's a college town; the influx of students results in a cheap part-time labor supply, which keeps the overall level of wages down, even for full-timers. That's been the case for decades.

Edit to add: Go to Station Information and you will find that the main rail is blank.
