Good lord. The FCC openly threatened their owned-and-operated stations’ licenses. We’ve explained this many times.I don't grasp what if any consequences ABC would face if it continued to air Kimmel as-is outside of temporary revenue.

You mean like The Daily Show and Weekend Update discuss a news item and then riff, make jokes and offer opinions? Come on, this is beyond absurd. However, if Charlamagne on The Breakfast Club cites a news subject for comment, it is a news item.
Not for a million dollarsIf you take Gutfeld! on Fox News,
Intentionally or otherwise.we'd likely all say it is a comedy show.
That noted bastion of integrity, Hannity.Heck, even Sean Hannity presents it by saying "Stay with Fox News and Greg gutfeld will put a smile on your face".
And they are not tethered to any sort of objective reality. Nor do they need to be because it’s a comedy show.In every aspect, this is presented as a comedy show. But on the show, actual news items are presented either in a verbal summary or in a sound/video clip and then the panel comments and makes remarks about the news item.
The alleged texts, not verified, came out Tuesday. But that’s not even relevant. Don’t pretend for one moment had the suspect been raised in a left-wing family that you wouldn’t be sticking to calling him a left winger regardless of any allegations, and that is all they are, that he had moved far right. But the comedian, by that time had the news data that showed that the confessed murderer was not has he portrayed him.
Because it’s not a news show. The only viable excuse for miss-stating that news item would have to do with when the show is "filmed". We know it is not live, but I don't know when certain news "facts" came out vs. when the show was recorded. This is an interesting point, particularly if what we knew about the at-the-time suspect was less clear than, perhaps, a few hours later when the show ran.
In the case of a time discrepancy, then why did ABC no edit that bit in the monologue to reflect later discoveries?
Kimmel was losing ABC money.
“Trust me, bro.”Proof? Source?
I still think ABC should stand its ground on this one. Whatever the FCC does would reflect badly on them around the world if they were to do anything on such an innocuous comment.Good lord. The FCC openly threatened their owned-and-operated stations’ licenses. We’ve explained this many times.
ABC has suspended the show, not cancelled it.So the big question is whether ABC cancelled Kimmel just for his remarks, or whether they cancelled him because of the defection of a significant group of affiliates and the potential further loss of revenue for that money losing show.
In what universe has this administration even once shown concern about the rest of the world’s opinion? In the big picture of idiocy emanating from the White House, this may be one of the lesser concerns to other countries.I still think ABC should stand its ground on this one. Whatever the FCC does would reflect badly on them around the world if they were to do anything on such an innocuous comment.

Sure. And People hasn’t turned my down for the Sexiest Man Alive, they’re just waiting to award it to me in some future year.ABC has suspended the show, not cancelled it.
They told me I was getting it this year…sorry!Sure. And People hasn’t turned my down for the Sexiest Man Alive, they’re just waiting to award it to me in some future year.
Wordplay at this point.
Pretty soon he’ll have one of those royal titles that are like 15 names long.I just gave my Lord and Savior another middle name.
Going out on a limb here…no?Do you actually think (I could stop there, couldn’t I?) that Trump’s FCC gives a single f**k about what people anywhere else think of them?
I was ahead of the curve in assuming that was the case.I think we’re about to find out that they don’t care what people in AMERICA think of them.
And he has the orange-dusted lips to prove his posterior-kissing propensity.FCC commissioners are appointed by the president. That’s the person whose opinion they care about.
I want to boycott Nexstar for starting this crap about Kimmel
, but I'm not going to give up my favorite show 9-1-1 and its new spinoff 9-1-1 Nashville.

An update we have a thread on Chairman Carr attempting to go after another show as in The View on ABC. Also the pundits on the View were ordered by upper Disney management to not discussed on the Kimmel situation.
I'm sure Joe Rogan is already working on an explanation for his "enlightened" listeners. It’s almost like once they get away with it, they keep going.
Never fear, we’ll hear a full explanation of why this is perfectly justified very soon.
