Last night, I tried to get a sign off for WENT 1340 AM, but instead it’s automation music. Today I messaged them and my worst nightmare came true: they now broadcast 24/7
 
It kinda makes sense, with the Holidays near they might be selling more commercials and with folks shopping after supper they might have some listenership after 6pm. Are they doing any local highschool sports. Easy sales!

How dare they operate under the parameters of their broadcast license!

I don't mean this to be rude, but the radio dial does not exist for DXers. Give it a few years and that might be AMs only purpose though.
 
A partner and I looked at buying WENT a decade or so ago.

At the time, it had no automation system at all. There had to be a live operator any time the station was on the air, and if a Yankees west coast road game went into extra innings, the poor board op would have to stay until 2 or 3 AM if necessary.

It was economically unsustainable in a small, impoverished market to staff a station like that in the mid-2010s and even more so now. But at the time, the expense of installing automation was also uneconomical, and we didn't pursue the deal.

Last I knew, KVSH 940 doesnt have automation. That didnt a decade ago, but a long time employee bought them. They still used carts.. it was easy to tell. They have a live operator in studio 6am to 10pm 7 days a week
