WHK's "Strictly Speaking" show.

WHK's Monday-Friday local show, "Strictly Speaking" with Bob Frantz interviewed Gov. Mike DeWine on 04/10/25 with the primary focus being a discussion of the potential move of Cleveland Browns station from Cleveland to Brook Park. The Governor has not been on that show since 2020. The two gentlemen had positive discussions about some issues. They both said that they should have more talks, and not wait another 5 years to do so. This was a good occurrence as Bob, for the most part, has the same guests on 'all-the-time', and quite frankly, it gets a bit boring sometimes. The broadcast airs Monday-Friday from 9:06 a.m. until 11:45 a.m.

With the death of Charlie Kirk, I wonder if it opens the door for Bob Frantz to go national on Salem in Charlie's timeslot? I assume Dennis Prager will not be returning to a daily radio show.

I don't know if Michael Medved is still available. That would be my choice. His show was, while often being politically active, was always interesting and entertaining. "Conspiracy Day" on occasions of the full moon, "Disagreement Day" in which he only took calls from listeners who disagreed with him on issues, and more, are things I've missed since Salem sent him packing.

Medved was a rare personality in modern talk radio, he'd actually listen to opposing views and treat people with respect. It's a shame there's not more room for people like him on the dial.

While I liked it, most talk radio listeners have no use for hosts that allow thoughts and ideas on that disagree with theirs. They want them destroyed.

Many of these radio talk show hosts are just doing shtick. Hannity was a liberal, but in his early days, he discovered that he got more phone traffic if he attacked liberals. So he became a "conservative" and did this whole patriotic act. Sorry, it's the truth. It's all show biz.

There may be some who do this, but I think most are true-to-their-school. If most talk show hosts didn't believe what they say, and what they post in online sources, they could really be 'torn-up' inside by advocating things they didn't agree with, unless they actually don't have any beliefs and feelings either way.

I think a lot of them are members of the "Green" party.

As in, show me the "green" and I'll be whatever I need to be to put it in my pocket. How many of them were non MAGA till Trump won, then suddenly.. I'm not saying most of these guys are liberals, I'm just saying a lot of them are apolitical or normally conservative and leaned in.

WHK programming should be live at least until 6:00 pm so they can cover any breaking news. The pre-recorded stock show at 3:00 pm should be moved to a later timeslot, or dropped. It doesn't fit the format.

Google "performative outrage" and then think about the way the hosts you listen to act on air.

It'll fit the format if it brings in a good amount of dollars. And, since it probably does, the buyer may require the good timeslot in order for the money to continue to roll in.

It’s pay for play $$$. So it fits the format. Any Salem network show would be preempted by a brokered show. Finances, health, real estate, lawyers. If they’ll but the time, they’ll get the time slot.

Clearly the format isn't making money if they're sacrificing one hour of afternoon drive for a financial infomercial. Weekends are fully brokered but that's SOP among most — if not all — of the Salem talkers.

hell, i bet theyd sell time if you wanted to play music for two hours and paid enough!

If Salem is that desperate for money that they are willing to air a pre-recorded infomercial in drive time, perhaps they should sell the station.
