What's Up With the FCC Website?

I figured engineering was the most appropriate place to ask this. We don't appear to be able to log into the back end of the site to access our public file, etc. Is this as a result of the govt. shutdown?
 
I see. That's unfortunate.

Actually, it seems really silly. I don't see how it would take any employees to leave the back end of the website open so a station could, say, print out a new copy of their license to replace a damaged or lost one.

Oh well. That's the govt. I guess...
 
In a government shutdown, password-protected sites are generally taken offline, or the login process disabled, so that the site cannot be hacked when there are no personnel available to detect and counter same.

From that perspective, the "really silly" comment is ... well, really silly.
