Tonight (Thursday) Phillies game.

Interesting that it’s being broadcast on both WPHT (1210 AM) and KYW ( AM and FM). I understand why it’s not on WIP ( Eagles game conflict) but on conflicting dates they usually just air Phillies on WPHT. Why on both 1210 and KYW?

Only reason I can think of is to have an FM outlet broadcasting the game. Any other thoughts?

100% so there's an FM signal broadcasting the Phillies game.

They're putting it on 1210 and 1060 (as well as 103.9 FM)? Why does it have to be on two of their AM's?

Pre-empting stodgy, conservative talk rants that next-to-nobody listens to for an important baseball game makes some sense. But stopping your all News station? Just seems weird to me.

What is bigger news? Name one local news story that's bigger than this game. Especially after 7PM.

The people at the station know exactly how many people are listening at any given time. They know what's preemptable.

If actual news happens, they can switch away from the game to report the story.

KYW clearly taking a page from sister Audacy all-newser KNX in Los Angeles deemphasizing their AM signal making us wonder if it's on both AM/FM or FM only.

What difference does it make? They're also on the app. The goal is to be everywhere, because news is everywhere.

Once again, the station knows how many people listen to the AM. After 50 years, the public knows the AM location.

Audacy seemed to make a good decision. The Phillies are tied with the Dodgers and the game is in extras.

Meanwhile the Eagles are down by 3 to their rival Giants. Two close games.

Let's not forget November 5, 2022. The day where Philadelphia became the only city to ever lose TWO championships on the same day. World Series (Phillies vs. Astros) and MLS Cup (Union vs. LAFC).

The Union loss was in brutal fashion, giving up a game-tying goal with about 60 seconds left (and being a man up), then losing in penalty shots.
