I don’t know but I just checked online and they are back on. On a side note, what’s up with this song “No Time to Talk” by The Jonas Brothers they’re playing. Total ripoff of Bee Gees “Stayin’ Alive”.

Yup, far from a "rip-off" if the surviving member of the Bee-Gees is getting songwriting credit and royalties from this new song. Since the J Bros have publicly lauded the Brothers Gibb as a positive influence, this song feels more homage then it does, rip.No Time to Talk - Wikipedia

The Jonas Brothers song is pretty good and glad they gave credit to the Bee Gees. Please forgive my ripoff comment- I was really in a really bad mood this morning. I still am but I take back what I said! Stuff hitting the fan left and right at home! 🙀

@radiofan2023 Thanks- so far so good today - I had cabin fever - stuck all day in the house being a caregiver takes a toll on a person. Good job KTU - hope they don’t get cut off the air anymore.
I’m happy they’re are on the air again. Not to travel much off The Radio Discussion. I was a caregiver for two & a Half Years. It can leave you frazzled but I will pray 🙏 You & the person you’re taking care of Feel better soon
It's very rare for major market FM stations to be off the air... ever.
In about all cases, each station has a back up transmitter, and some have backup sites with separate transmitters. Nearly all have emergency generators for both studios and transmitter sites.
But there are a few cases where, despite redundancy, stations go off air.
When there is one site, such as a common site, either a massive power fail or antenna maintenance that requires riggers to be around the antenna, then they will be off. A building fire or a failure in the electrical transfer boxes can cause a total fail, too.
When there is one antenna or tower, tower failure, coax cable failure (loss of pressure, perforation, arcing) and the like can cause a full loss. Some stations do have second antennas lower on the same tower for these cases, but not all.
These are a couple of examples and I am sure there are others.
Of course, the extreme happened to a friend who, before coming to the U.S. was a DJ on a station in El Salvador in the later 80's. Rebels took over the station and shot him! They talked for a while on the station, then left the station off the air (police came and saved my friend).

Caregiving, like 103-5 KTU and all radio stations (for the most part) are 24/7 no days off - always on call - non-stop! Maybe KTU had to take a little breather. Can’t balme ‘em!

WKTU a long time ago carried the call letters WTFM. Currently that sign/station is in Northeast Tennessee, in Bristol on 98.5 FM. Pretty Powerful 70kw Station, and Has a Small FM Translator on 105.7 (W289BZ) ... and From The Same Tower !! 🤷♂️ Overlapping With Much Lower Power, No Coverage is Gained. I Wonder Why, Kinda Redundant and Seems Somewhat Wasteful to Duplicate a Signal in the same area.
Same can kinda also be said on another station in the area, Electric 94.9, WAEZ, another 100kw station, also in NE Tennessee, and it easily Reaches into Knoxville, About 75 Miles away. But it's also simulcast on a nearby small translator - 95.3 (W237DV) - Pretty Much Overlapping in the same area as well. Tho, I Heard it's for a better signal in Some Terrain Challenged Parts of the City (Downtown Kingsport). Yet, Because that Terrain, WAEZ is Blocked To The South By Mountains Along The NC Line, and is Completely Unlistenable Only 35 Miles away in Most of the Asheville Area.
