Something Wrong with HD on 94.5 K-Love

Someone needs to Check the HD Audio Input Levels on 94.5 WKVG in Greenville. Their HD1, HD2 and HD3 Signals are all currently Lagging with Audio Having a Very Low Pitch / Tempo (Slow / Low), compared to the Audio on the Main Analog Signal.

👉 It Sounds Horrible when the HD Locks in. 👈
I'm surpised the audio is somehow able to keep up with the main signal, with little but very noticable few seconds of delay. I Wonder what's their issue?

... And Also, Compare the 94.5-HD3 Audio to the TruthNetwork Feed on WLXK 88.3/96.9 W245CH, Same Thing. It sounds like its Playing off an old Cassette Tape with Slow Tones & Low Audio Volume.
Needs to be fixed or someone troubleshoot this issue.

Perhaps something is going at the Transmitter site, or someones working on it, now the HD Signal is Dropping randomly, struggling to Lock on, which is a Bit Unusual in the Spartanburg (Strong Signal) area.

The sad state of radio affairs is that no one cares on the management end....or they would monitor stuff like that. (Does K-Love even have any local staff?) Audacy is the same. Their digital displays are seriously messed up and have been like that for a while.

And we all wonder why more and more people are turning to streaming.

EMF/K-Love is generally good with engineering issues, even with the remote nature of their broadcast model. Certainly better than Audacy. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re aware and working on the issue.

EMF has a network operations center and they can remotely monitor just about all their signals... and have alarming set up to notify them of issues, no doubt. But .. low audio or audio related issues would be hard to set an alarm for. Alarms are usualyl for broadcast out of licensed parameters.. power, etc....... can monitor for no audio, off air, loss of connectivity to the site, etc........ there are some cases that theres no real way to alarm for a particular fault... or theyve lost connectivity to a site and dont know theres a problem, but if theyve lost connectivity, theyre aware of that and are working to get it fixed.

In all my years, ive only heard of one klove station with a problem they didnt fix right away and im not sure if they lost connectivity or something, couldnt get an engineer out there.. but it took a few days to fix.

Have you attempted to contact KLove? There should be some kind of email or phone number on their site to contact someone in Nashville besides prayer help. I have never used the info but on radiolocator.com and FCCdata.org has phone numbers for stations. I doubt they have an employee who monitors this site. I am pretty sure over 99.99% of the folks on this site DO NOT have access to KLove equipment. Anything we would post would be an educated guess based on past experiences. It is very difficult to troubleshoot equipment without access either by web or actually being on site. KLove is big enough that I bet except for an extreme emergency technicians do not do anything without a "work order" or clearance from a supervisor.

1800 525 LOVE.... listen to the menu and find the option to talk to someone other than a pastor/prayer team and report it. i did that once years ago, before i was "in the know" and knew a few EMF people. Their network operations center has a non public toll free # whos last 4 digits ends in NERD

Doesn't 94.5 Share their site with ETV or one of the other numerous towers up there on Paris Mountain?
I think their tower is the tallest one of the bunch in the "Tower Farm" ...

Not sure whats causing their audio lag, but maybe a local tech is looking into it, I know that CraigD has lots of experience with some local FM & TV sites and operations around the Upstate.

Check it out 📻 it sounds horrible ... and it's still causing a delay in the Audio that's even a few minutes long at this point.

I can and will probably try calling them, but I also remember seeing a report problems submission form button on their website as well.

The 94-5 HD3 signal I was seperately concerned about, as their normal audio level has been very low at best ever since they signed on about a year ago, but not sure if they'll ever fix that as well since its attached to TruthNetwork's Station on 96.9 (W245CH) in Greenville and almost a 100% simulcast on WLXK 88.3 for Spartanburg, not sure if EMF or if Delmarva
(Truth Broadcasting) owns it and/maintains it.

eazy peazy

Kyle, have you called the numbers that SomeRadioGuy gave? Complaining without any action on your part will not help KLove.

Was asking if you or anyone else on here perhaps tuned in and heard this sound issue, and if so, what happened and possible fixes or causes?

Seems like a unique issue with the audio input feed into the signal (probably in relation to how the HD is supposed to be timed well or preferrably synchronized with the Analog signal.)

I am not a fan of KLove, but just trying to help someone who wants to listen to KLove. I am in GA and am not going to take a drive to listen to an HD issue. I have heard my share of HD issues and I am glad I am retired and not spending hours on a laptop trying to fix something someone's oversight. I do occasionally help a few small rural commercial broadcasters and a couple of nonprofits.

If it is was affecting donations, they know what you listen to by which 800 number you call to donate. I am sure the HD issue would be fixed but so few people regularly knowingly listen to HD that synching analog and digital audio is not an big issue.

For your info: usually KLove installs a rack of their own equipment at the transmitter sight after everyone at the station is terminated. It has happened to a few friends. Totally legally, they have figured out how to accumulate millions of dollars tax free in a non profit to buy commercial stations.

If you care complain. The old saying "the squeaky wheel gets the oil" does work sometimes.

I did have some HD cut outs off Woodruff Rd in Simpsonville that suprised me back on Friday. But I live about 10 miles south of Laurens and going to church today I had a perfect signal on HD2 as I headed toward Greenwood and of course HD3 is very quiet compared to HD 1 and 2 but thats been normal since EMF took over 94.5fm.

No ETV and K-Love are separate pieces of property. Craig usually keeps tabs on this forum. I'm surprised he has not responded. Must be busy at over a YFF. I know he was up there a good bit last week.

I guess it was bad enough for everyone to stop listening to K-LOVE, but this issue was resolved last week.
