Been that way for a while. Sure put an end to speculation about 93.7 flipping to a Spanish language format.

One of my current silly format flip fantasies: Radio One kills The Box, moves The Eagle to 97.9 and flips the 106.9/107.5 simulcast to a gold based Country format to partner with 93Q (think KSCS/KPLX in DFW) and kill The Bull, which then is flipped to the SportsTalk format currently on 610. Hey, you can dream, can’t you?🤪🤣

Im still waiting for the spanish station to hit 8's. lol
KOVE rebounded back, KLTN, KAMA, and KQBU continues the same old trend. Hopefully something changes soon

What Spanish format would you put on 93.7? RETRO? Or another Mega 101 style station to compete against MEGA and Latinomix?

Wouldn’t expect them to flip it to any corrido and Banda format.

Well, we are waiting to see what the new KESS 93.3 will be.🤔😉🤣. Perhaps held up by the government shutdown delaying the call swap?

The Beat isn’t going anywhere now with it collapsing The Box.

You would have to consider what might happen with 93.3 and 97.5.

I was wondering why is classic rock doing so well on 106.9 and 107.5 a mostly a rim shot station and 93.7 the arrow did not?

I wouldn't say mostly. They both cover Houston proper quite well and 106.9 has a great reach far north where the main signals don't. 107.5 doesn't cover too much more land that a Missouri signal doesn't reach though

I say Dean and Rog helped a lot. Had many followers at the time.

Just like Raul Brindis on La Ley.

106.9 and 107.5 aren’t rimshots; I like to refer to them as “nearshots” as the towers are much closer to Houston than the various eastern rimshot signals.

Agreed. We should probably have some kind of standard for determining if something is or is not a "rimshot": some percentage of the market covered by a certain signal strength. Just because something is not at the main antenna farm, does not make it a rimshot, e.g. KSBJ, KPFT, KHPT, etc.

Even KROI covers all of downtown and nearly everything within 610 with a 70 dBu or greater signal. However, there is a significant chunk that is outside even the 60 dBu in northern Harris and southern Montgomery counties.

All the eastern signals are clearly rimshots though as is 97.1.

To me, if it is licensed outside the Metro Survey Area, it's a rimshot.

On the other hand, take Stevie Wonder's station in LA: it does not cover the entire market at all, but is licensed in "the middle" of the metro. Not a rimshot.

That's an interesting idea. Off the top of my head, this concept seems to get most of them, but there are a few of outliers even in Houston.

- KFNC licensed to Mount Belveiu definitely a rimshot even though it is in licensed to a Chambers County city in the market.
- Same for 103.7 licensed to La Porte in Harris County.

- KZAR in the San Antonio market is licensed to McQueeny in Guadalupe County, which is in the market, but the coverage is pitiful (the 60 dBu barely reaches the far east side of the 410 loop).

Regardless it is pretty good quick test for most stations.
