Infinity Sports Network rebranding

From the RadioInsight article, I wonder if the BetMGM network is being absorbed?

The two networks have operated as separate entities, given MGM's involvement but it certainly seems possible that this could be a merger of the strongest programming from both.

There is a significant number of stations that are affiliated with both, and as near as I can tell most (if not all) of those are owned by Audacy. Maybe the schedule that is "to be announced later" is based on how those stations have mixed the two networks' programs?

The only real advantage the Westwood One branding has is via the NFL. Infinity has no meaning anymore. Neither does Audacy.

I imagine the consolidation under a single banner will keep the network around a little longer. But it's way behind the big two.

What I’ve noticed is that most of the Audacy sports stations that carry it are local during the day, and they use their AM’s to clear BetQL generally if it’s not an AM/FM simulcast. So the programming really isn’t heard much on Audacy sports stations, at least the money making prominent ones.

The programming really isn't why it exists.

Both the sale of the Infinity sports network to Cumulus and the proposed combining of the Infinity and sports betting networks raises a few interesting questions.

1) In markets where Westwood One footballs broadcasts are heard on radio stations that use other sports networks outside of the football games (Fox and ESPN come immediately to mind) but which also have a Cumulus presence, will we be seeing either this year or next year those football games transferred to the Cumulus-owned stations.

2) Will Cumulus be pressuring stations that carry only Westwood One football games in markets that don't have a Cumulus-owned station to switch to the Westwood One network full time for those stations to continue to carry the Westwood One football packages.

3) In markets where both the Infinity and sports gambling networks currently exist on separate frequencies (I'm thinking of Memphis, TN and 680 and 790), will we be hearing the exact same programming on both stations.

Both the sale of the Infinity sports network to Cumulus

I'm not aware of any "sale." It's always been a joint venture. It still is, according to the article.

As to your questions 1&2, Westwood One has always handled affiliate sales. Nothing has changed. My guess is that the NFL wouldn't want its games to be used in the way you describe.

Rebranding to WWO is a good idea and something they probably should of done when they dropped CBS Sports. My only thing is what it does to the daily Infinity Sports lineup. I know here in Columbus, they sell their affiliation is with BetQL and not Infinity Sports.

Looks like they have their new morning show. Guess Maggie and Perloff aren't going to be around much longer. Lance with the details:

Its disappointing its looking to be more BetMGM ove Infinity programming. As Infinity has the best overall quality when it comes to sports talk, i hope they don't get rid of most of the line up.

Definitely bummed as this seems to be the biggest overhaul in the history of the former CBS Sports Radio. I've always preferred their offerings, including as of late with the likes of Maggie & Perloff, JR Sportbrief, and Bart Winkler. Between Westwood adding sports gambling garbage from BetMGM and hiring new hosts, I wonder who will even be left from the current lineup.

Been listening to a lot of the shows over the past few days and it sounds like a massive bloodbath/funeral across the whole platform. It's depressing they would keep the betting over the quality but hey money talks.
Which shows have you heard are ending? So far all I've heard of from when I've listened are Bart Winkler's show and Jody MacDonald's show on weekends. Karlos Ortiz, the executive producer for Bart's show, said last night he doesn't know yet whether he's still going to have a job.
