Bustos buying KXXO Oly

Anyone looking for a replacement for KXXO...try Steve Eberhart's station (KGAF 1580/92.3) in Gainesville TX. Incredible community involvement and a fun, local voice for the county. Very similar sound to KXXO, except they broadcast local sports (I don't think MIXX did).

I will try to get the last couple of hours of MIXX 96.1 taped and shared as soon as I can. I taped another 1 1/2 hours from the stream late last night.

Hopefully they can get back up before midnight. I was listening about 4:15 when they lost audio and still haven't come back. They are aware and working on it. And literally the second I post this they're back.

It's interesting some of the music selections I've been hearing. Like right now KXXO just played a song called 'Mummers' Dance' by Loreena McKennitt....a song I've never heard before!

Very much a one-hit wonder from ‘97. A Canadian hit from a Canadian artist (by way of Manitoba), but did get some airplay in the States (peaked at 18 on Billboard, though charted on AC, AAA, rock and Top 40), though it pretty much disappeared after the mid-00s. Doesn’t seem to test well at all for a library/gold addition.

Thanks, Dave, and everybody at Mixx 96.1 for 35 years of great local radio!!!!! I listened to the exact nature sounds when they were testing the signal, and listened when they signed on January 16, 1990, with Long and Winding Road by the Beatles. I loved that Toni and Dave decided to bring all the airstaff together to say their final goodbyes, which never happens in the world of corporate radio. I'm still listening to the nature sounds as we speak, and I recorded the last hour of KXXO, and I will always have those memories of this station!!!!!

I worked at a station that actually played listener requests, probably because it didn't get very many of them, and I had a caller who requested that song a couple times a month. Whenever I answered the phone and heard, "Hi, Kent, it's Deb," I knew exactly which CD I was going to be grabbing!

That reminds me - I saw a posting on another board saying Bustos 1130 AM in Mount Angel (Oregon) switched to carrying "Tu Familia FM" - that's operated by religious group that owns KLSY in the South Sound. Could the main Familia "AM" network end up on FM too in an LMA deal? KLSY is on South Mountain which reaches into Seattle, KXXO is on Capitol Peak which falls short of Seattle. Perhaps there will be a KLSY-KXXO ownership swap.

Tu Familia FM is now operating on AM 1210 and 102.1in Auburn and simulcasting 93.7 KLSY. They did also operate Radio Amor which was on 1210 and 102.1 in Auburn and also 92.1 in Tacoma and 98.5 in Seattle, but all them are simulcasting 93.7 as of last Thursday.
