Middays On WMMR: Who's Next (If At All)?

You can say Pierre Robert was irreplaceable. That being said, will Beasley save a few dollars and just leave the slot jockless? Discuss!

After blowing out mid-day jocks at WDHA and WRAT, I believe both stations have been using a mix of weekenders to fill-in over the past couple months. The fact that they haven't gone wall-to-wall music in mid-days probably bodes well for WMMR, but still something I thought and wished we wouldn't even be thinking about for years to come.

Man... I really saw this unfolding as Pierre announcing his retirement and taking a year-long victory lap at some point. This all feels too jarring, unexpected and unfair. He deserved so many more years on the air.

It's absolutely impossible for anyone to replace a market rock radio format legend like Pierre. The impracticalities go way above Beasley's reputation for frugality.

Pierre wasn't just a WMMR host. He WAS WMMR. That he has departed, WMMR is now merely just another rock station and it's certainly not the fault of anyone else there.

I worked in Philadelphia in 1991 & 1992 he was covering Fat Tuesday at a local restaurant he was extremely nice & Friendly. Even though I haven’t worked there in over 30 years. I will miss him

Considering all of the staffing cuts these days, my guess is that it’ll be someone who’s not very well known and who is willing to work for cheap. We shall see.

When Eric Johnson was let go as PD/middays at WMGK, Beasley replaced him eventually with Kristen Herrmann who was already mornings and PD at Ben FM.
Could a similar thing happen with Pierre's shift? Matt Cord is doing mornings at WMGK. He's a market veteran and has been on WMMR previously. It would fit with Beasley's recent "economics." Possibly make the shift shorter, 10:30-2, and have Brent start at 2. Yes, this would mean part or all of the midday shift would be VTd.

Eventually AI or jockless, if advertising never recovers from its decade-long decline. The midday jocks are facing the same fate as the overnight jocks.
