Woah this gets overlooked given that we spent time talking about NBC News Staff having to either be reassigned from the soon to be MSNow, CNBC to NBC News Now and Vice versa with layoffs from Comcast.

This one is going to be one to watch for how many people from NBC Sports will have to be reassigned to USA Sports by Versant is yet to be seen here. Also the sports contracts that were originally signed as NBC Sports will have to be renegotiated and renewed as Versant’s USA Sports is yet to be seen here.

I guess this will compete with the revived NBC Sports Network:

We discussed the NBC Network here:

i won't be surprised if Versant is bought out by Nexstar next, i can see Nexstar buying them out so they can boost up The CW sports and steal away more sports rights deal via a merger.

Here is more Versants other offices as the split off is underway but yes for now USA Sports will stay in Stamford for the time being.

In Washington, D.C., MSNBC and CNBC will share space on the newly renovated eighth floor at 400 North Capitol Street, also home to NBC News operations.

CNBC will continue to operate from its Englewood Cliffs, N.J., facility, which will serve as the technical operations center for Versant. Some MSNBC technical staff will also be based at this location.

The company is also consolidating other operations, with Los Angeles-based teams moving to 10 UCP in Universal City and plans to relocate London employees near the current CNBC office at Fleet Place. Office searches are underway in Beijing and Shanghai, and Singapore’s ad sales teams are expected to move to the Mapletree facility later this year.

Versant’s sports operations will remain split between NBC Sports in Stamford, Conn., and a new office in downtown Stamford planned for September.

So is this the new NBC Sports Network or not?

Too soon to tell for Nexstar given that they are still waiting for approval to get Tegna. But for Versant they have to for now deal with sports contracts that were a carryover when parts of their operations was with NBC sports.

Yes we seen how NBC is putting lots of attention and protection to the Peacock app not just because some parts of the country get cable and internet service from Comcast but also how NBC is promoting Peacock as the home of NBA, NFL and Olympics as part of a move to boost viewers to the app. For the ones USA Sports is carrying that’s yet to be seen which leagues will be removed from Peacock and be seen only on USA Sports and apps Versant has to form at some point that’s to be determined.

No. NBCSN is under NBCUniversal. USA Sports is Versant.
So Versant is giving the middle finger to Comcast for the spinoff...so they get rights to sports they were NBC was somewhat carrying.

Ultimately Comcast is still the owner. It's a separate unit from NBCUniversal. All they're doing is merchandising the sports rights they already own. For golf, you'll see tournaments on their channel on weekdays, and on NBC on weekends. Which is what they did before. It's just under a new name.

yeah, they are spinning off the cable assets and company debts to this newly created company, and it's most likely Comcast may already be prepping to sell it and i think Nextstar is likely to be the buyer as USA, CNBC & MS Now (FKA MSNBC) will be the key assets that they want to help the CW Sports and Newsnation expand their reach with CNBC & MS Now being used to merge the news teams of those networks into Newsnation while USA Network and the new "USA Sports" could be a good asset to expand the CW Sports and give them a cable channel for when sports events go way past it's allow time forces CW to move things over to another network (in this case, Newsnation is often getting interrupted by CW Sports programming on the weekends due to sports overruns bleeding into the next sports event airing on the CW).

who knows, maybe NBCUniversal may already had a secret deal in place with Nexstar to give them first dibs to buy out the spin-off company as part of a agreement to keep NBC on Nextstar owned NBC Stations.

That's a little too soon for that one given where we are with the Tegna/Nexstar deal. I get it Perry Sook's team brag about how hopeful they are wishing that Tegna/Nexstar deal is approved. Who knows about Nexstar keeping the NBC affiliates they own given their record to protect CW network.
