Vicky Moore Out at KNX

I wonder if Mike Simpson will anchor solo as KNX does in all other dayparts.
KNX’s sister all-news station KCBS-AM has apparently transitioned to that same model since the retirements and departures of some longtime anchors this year. Now, their weekday AM and PM drives have solo setups including the great Steve Scott now in AM drive. I know Steve is in the community and sometimes chimes in. He does a great job in any shift he works.

Huge loss for KNX. A little unclear whether this was her choice to exit or if she was pushed.

Vicky was an unorthodox straight news anchor - high energy, a little whacky, but always kept you listening. KNX picking her up and bouncing Linda Nunez out of the AM drive 22 years ago was very controversial at the time but she stuck through a series of co-anchors whom she was paired with. Both Dick Helton and Mike Simpson sounded great alongside her as "the straight man".

Regarding the rest of the changes -

Carrero to mornings will be good, she's filled in alongside Mike Simpson and they sound good together, however she's more of a traditional anchor without Vicky's high energy. Will be interesting to watch the ratings.

For afternoons, Brian Douglas and Alex Silverman will be fine. I will say that since Rob Archer's departure, I've very much enjoyed Larry Perel and Brian Ping alternating and am a little disappointed neither got the full time weekday slot. They've both been excellent.

Brian Douglas is a capable news anchor, doesn't flub a line and keeps the news moving but doesn't have the biggest voice. Alex Silverman is a great news talent, did an incredible job as ND for KNX and also is one of the best reporters in the business. While I'll enjoy his personality at the anchor desk, I was super pumped when he was announced as rejoining as a reporter, because his reporting is that good.

With Douglas off of AM drive traffic, looks like the deck has shuffled again in that department. Sabina Mora was off over the weekend and had AM drive today, presumably that's her new slot. Sioux-z Jessup did work the weekend and was midday today. Presumably they'll keep using Lew Stowers and Manny Pacheco to cover middays as well, but if anyone is off, they don't have any more freelance traffic anchors in the stable.

I think Vicky was great. It’s not clear to me why she’s leaving KNX.
This sentence in particular puzzles me: "However, you may still hear her voice on our airwaves from time to time in a limited capacity, including as a spokesperson for select clients." So will she still be employed by KNX, or by these "select clients"? Is the station really keeping her on just so certain advertisers can use her voice to read their ad copy? That would make her a flack, not a newsperson anymore. I suppose the "clients" figure that having a respected news voice spewing their verbiage makes the listeners more likely to believe what she's reading, and they're probably right about that, but keeping her on the station's payroll just to do that doesn't seem quite right.
