Maurice DuBois Leaving CBS Evening News

Also one has to account that Maurice DuBois also anchors local news for WCBS-TV News New York at the same time he has duties with CBS News. He is one of a few people that managed to do local news and network news at the same time.

I haven't seen him on the local news for some time.

Whatever gave you (@Y2k) the idea he was going to carry two anchoring loads? One newscaster role is a fulltime job. Two is a conflict of interests. As @luperm said, when he was anchoring CBS2NYC's newscast, he sometimes subbed for Norah O'Donnell. Once he became one of the permanent fulltime anchors on the network, he relinquished the local role. To the best of my recollection, anchoring a local and a net cast concurrently hasn't been done since the days of Douglas Edwards and Robert Trout (back when I was a freakin' child).

It’s gotta be past instances when Maurice DuBois was a fill in Anchor for CBS News where I got mixed up with given that he was best known for local news with WCBS-TV.

Sean Hannity doing hard news is nothing but a fever dream that will never come to pass. His specialty has always been conservative-slanted punditry.
Bari has been looking at bringing back Norah O'Donnell, but I wonder if she has another trick up her sleeve. Could she grab someone from NewsNation?

All the speculation I’ve read is that CBS is looking at Tony Dokoupil of CBS Mornings to anchor the Evening News. Personally I’d love them to put Errol Barnett in the anchor role.

As @luperm said, when he was anchoring CBS2NYC's newscast, he sometimes subbed for Norah O'Donnell.
He was less frequently seen as a sub when Norah had the Evening News as it was anchored out of DC and almost all of the fill-ins were DC bureau reporters.
This will end DuBois' long association with the evening news - he has appeared as a fill in since the Bob Schieffer days.

Meg Oliver could be another option. She did Up to the Minute. Or Bari could pick Jericka Duncan, currently on the weekend newscasts. Weekend news is often where big stars have to start.

I always thought Major Garrett was overlooked at CBS. Granted he is older but so is CBS's audience. I doubt the Gen Zers will ever watch the evening news so why try? I believe most of the ads are for drugs for seniors anyways.

Maurice is a far superior evening news anchor compared to his colleague, John Dickerson.

Maurice should've been allowed to anchor the evening news solo.

Dickerson also did a poor job during the 2024 political conventions, seemingly struggling to develop articulate thoughts. Compared to his work, Norah's work was very good.
