The station, which simulcasts La Exitosa on WEPN FM, has been off the air since at least last evening.
Perhaps this is related to FCC filings stating that the nighttime tower array needs some repairs. They have been broadcasting omnidirectional at night with reduced power, under a STA.
 
The reality is this: first, there's nothing local on WOWO after sunset at this point. It's all just the same syndicated talk you can hear in every market in the country. Second, the 9800 watt night signal covers Fort Wayne just fine, and that's all that matters as far as WOWO's ratings and sales. Third, WOWO is also on a full-market FM signal that probably accounts for most of its listenership these days.

The WOWO that might have been worth saving in 1994 was 32 years ago. That station doesn't exist anymore. It's just another mostly satellite talk station in market 100-whatever.

I have wondered the same thing. The only theory I have is that they don't want anyone else grabbing the WFWI calls if they give them up on the FM.
