KLO 103.1 The Wave changes

I have noticed that the programming at KLO has been tweaked a bit. The bumpers have changed to plain announcements and at least one air staff member has been released. I have also noticed that speciality shows like Unrest on the 7th Day have been shelved. I know their ratings have been stellar, but groups like Puddle of Mud and Goo Goo Dolls don't exactly fitting into the existing format.

That sucks- I live in CA but discovered this station driving out of Wyoming and into SLC- was really surprised to actually hear some GOOD music on the radio in a place like that. It at least lasted longer than the stations in the 80s that got me into this music (KPOP in Sacramento/Roseville which only lasted 5 months, and The Quake in San Francisco which lasted a bit over 2 years). I would’ve put more emphasis on new music that fit this genre, without going towards all grunge which ruined Live 105 and KROQ.

At home I had The Wave on my online presets, was good to know this stuff was being played on the air but they still played it safe too much compared to the online 80s stations.

Clearly whoever is in charge doesn't care about the feed. It sounds like Christmas music and Industrial music distortion. Sounds like Vince Guaraldi and KMFDM over each other.

Because it would be daring.

It'd be the forst possible think they could do... even worse then doing 60s and 70s oldies. An ab solute money loser outside of the halloween to christmas time frame.

NOW.. if they had ALREADY had HD and wanted to put it on HD3 and set it on shuffle walk away and not expend any effort on it and what was already on hd3 had run its course? Then... MAYBE... but not even then would i suggest thats a good idea.

Doesn’t Christmas music get the highest ratings of the year when it’s done? Has anyone tried extending it beyond the season just to see what happens? Money shouldn’t be the only motivation for doing something, anyways.

Whatever you're smoking, I'd like some of it.

Its popular and gets high ratings because its done during the holiday seasons... boosts mood, sales, etc. But I don't wanna hear it in May when the river starts flowing again up here or when its 80 degrees in July.

Radio is a business, money is the largest, nearly sole.. motivator... why else does IHeart own 1000 stations? Why else does Townsquare own a few hundred?

There are some stations that have done “Christmas in July”, but I think that’s been about it. Some were talked about on this board earlier this year. KOEZ-FM in Ames, IA was one.

Hubbard, in their Seattle cluster, does 'All Christmas' year round on KRWM HD2. Coming soon will be 'All Christmas' on the main channel which is AC Warm 106.9. Also, after Thanksgiving is a flip to All Christmas on the HD3, a simulcast of Oldies KIXI

In Seattle, there will be three choices for Christmas music at 106.9, after Thanksgiving!

That's quite the website, showing the new "Coast" logo on the sidebar, the Christmas 103 branding in the big box, still using the "Wave" URL, and if you hover over the Live button, the old KSQN call letters appear.
