RTÉ digital radio services shutting down tonight

Irish state broadcaster RTÉ is shutting down it's digital radio services tonight, except for RTE Gold. I'm currently listening to the last hour of 2XM on their stream.


This also includes RTE Chill since its timeshared with RTEjr. I'm bummed that Chill and Pulse have now gone off-air.

These stations were previously on DAB before RTÉ shut down its DAB signals in 2021. Since then, they've been online-only radio and didn't appear on the new commercial Irish DAB+ service that has launched in the past year. I guess the listenership must have been pretty low, and given the stations' online-only nature, RTÉ will have had precise figures for each one.

The last song on Pulse was "Nothing Is Forever" by Ultracynic, a track that used to be played at the end of raves in the '90s at places like Bowlers in Manchester, someone knows their dance music history:
