Did someone hack KDDS 99.3?

I couldn't upload the audio I recorded, (m4a) about 1 minute on loop. I listen from 7;12pm to about 7:20pm 1/7/2026 What I heard wasn't nice and violated many FCC rules. Did anyone else hear it?

Someone has been going around for a few years, "hacking" Barix boxes that have been left unprotected with default passwords and playing unpleasant content.

The same thing happened in Houston in December:

What audio I heard is "Visit me youtube .com grimplacestuffalsoonfor affinity .net..". then a eas alert tone then static then voice mixed with heavy static... either german or english hard to tell but the 'f' bomb was clearly heard numerous times. Sounded like a racist rant.
The speech to text is what was displayed on my galaxy phone. What was deciphered was the link clearly heard.
 
Yup, That's the Barix hack observed at several stations across the country. KDDS - Bustos Seattle, has fixed the issue for now.

Racist rant - more like a racist song. The song you're hearing is a snippet of a 1960s Johnny Rebel song titled "N****r Hatin' Me".

Edit: A 96.9 somewhere in the Bay Area has been hacked, and is still hacked as of writing. Seems like those behind the Barix hacks changed their loops, because it used to be a song snippet.

Three lpfm's in the immediate bay area are on 96.9 no translators in CA on 96.9 at all
 
Looks like Bustos is either having some issues, or doing widespread maintenance. My local LaGranD (KZML) has been down since Thanksgiving, and Yakima's (KZTA) has been intermittently on and off the last day or so. It's probably just a coincidence but I'm not complaining.
 
Both of Bustos transmitters in Skagit County (103.3 and 96.9) occasionally suffer from multi-day outages. While 96.9 is an easy drive inside Sedro-Woolley (floods notwithstanding), the 103.3 site is atop Devils Mountain via a gated, private dirt road that remains a hassle.
 
BTW Amador himself is reachable and approachanle. I emailed him once after figuring out the email format witin the company (his address wasnt listed at the time) and he wrote back after i reported DX Reception of one of his Chico, CA stations from Laramie, WY.. so if anyone has issues, figure out the email format within the company and email amador.
 
Yes, KZTA has been off and on. 96.9 KAYO (KYYO) heard here on the dry side of the mountains the other night. If I had more time, I'd try for Spokane or CJAX Vancouver.

Thanks for the tip, but the longer KZML is off, the more I can DX. :giggle: KZML transmits in HD too so I have three free channels at this time. HD is also off on KFOO Opportunity/Spokane, so 95.9 is 100% free right now.
