Do you remember listening to Radio Disney?

I'd like to hear from those who grew up with or listened to Radio Disney when it was around (1996 to 2015, or 2021 counting the L.A. station and the web streams). I didn't really listen to it, but some guys from WMKI, the local affiliate in the Boston area (now WBIX with a Brazilian format), did come to my school once.
 
I listened for a bit back in the late 90s.

I don't remember much about it off the top of my head, unfortunately. I'll have to think about it for a bit.

If there're any airchecks of KMKY 1310 from 1999 or so that somebody could point me to, that would do much to jog my memory.

Yes, but I think that Radio Aahs did a better job with the format. Radio disney played 1980s and up current hits, some of which (I'm thinking of Journey's "Don't Stop Beleiving,") lyrically seemed to be more oriented to adults than to children.

Based on descriptions of the format, it seems to be the one Kids Stuff on Sirius and Kids Place Live on Sirius XM adopted (although they did occasionally play the odd "adult" song, like "Eye of the Tiger" - I remember one time where a DJ on KPL played it for someone's birthday and casually mentioned that he had to "check the words" beforehand)
 
Yes!! I Was a Daily Listener to
AM 640 - WWJZ - Mount Holly / Philadelphia, Great Coverage in the Southern 2/3 of NJ and Good Coverage all the way down to VA Beach....

and in North Jersey it was AM 1560 - WQEW New York City ... Not as Good Signal Maybe 30+ Miles South And West away from their former Brooklyn Site. I also Still have the jingle saved on my phone.

Bittersweet Memories, no way to go back and enjoy them, no way to go forward & restore them, sux huh.

Even though most of their radio stations were on AM... It was nice to drive through one of the few cities where they Broadcasted on one of their few (rare) FM signals, with better quality audio, such as their former stations in Cumberland, MD and Conway, Arkansas.

Nowadays it would just be easier to listen online for better quality audio than the AM signal. Also I remember before they signed off, I Did Get to Briefly Experience Their Station (1480 WGFY) in Charlotte NC, When It Was Broadcasting in AM-HD.

In Denver, Radio Disney was way up on 1690 AM, so even my kids preferred listening to Disney CDs in the car rather than an interference-prone AM frequency.
 
I remember one of their FM stations in Western Maryland, WDZN 100.1. Only listened when traveling through the area on I68. Otherwise usually only heard on distant AM signals since the DC/Baltimore area had no Disney stations.
 
We would listen to Radio Disney in the car as I was driving my daughter to school. They did some interesting edits to avoid anything that could be controversial. One such edit was Brittney Spears "Oops, I Did it Again," where they edited out the line, "I'm not that innocent" with just the music playing without the words.
 
AM 640 WWJZ 's daytime signal to the South is so impressive, I would say probably one of the best in the region, I heard it all the way down the Delmarva with a listenable signal ... At Night however it Struggles even 30 miles away near Toms River ...

North into the NYC area they were still audible up into Somerset County, just 30 Miles from of NYC, ... Even with WFAN almost next door on the dial, Just 20 khz Away ... That's also Where WQEW 1560 would struggle just as weak at times in the same area (in Central NJ)

I remember that station very well it was Radio Disney and they are now a Catholic station I believe.

I remember visiting family in Milwaukee and we would listen to Radio Disney on our little battery powered transistor radio with headphones.

My parents have satellite radio and they wanted to listen to classic vinyl or classic rewind at the time. But back then it was XM radio it wasn't Siris XM.

I remember they would get really super faint signal at night time and you could actually hear some sports station on that same channel.

I remember they were broadcasting Hannah Montana's Best of both worlds and then just hearing the song disappear and hearing a much stronger signal talking about sports I think they were talking about the Iowa Hawkeyes.

But then when you would get close to Sussex you can hear Radio Disney again even though they disappeared in Milwaukee at sunset it was strange but yet it's so fascinating even to this day.
