WVEI-FM in Providence, SE Mass, sold by Audacy, will no longer simulcast WEEI Boston programming

This is a major shakeup, as buying 103.7 Westerly from the Boston Phoenix in 2004 was a brilliant move by Entercom.

The 103.7 signal filled in a lot of holes.

It's important to remember that when CBS Radio blew up WBCN for sports in 2009 they knew 104.1 would not work in Rhode Island but 98.5 would.

In 2011 Entercom had to find a FM home for WEEI-850 and went with 93.7 knowing 103.7 would cover south of Boston.

@CTListener, This is going to create issues in the Boston market, south and west of the city.
