GSP December monthly ratings

I'm always surprised seeing V in the Greenville/Spartanburg ratings, but not because they don't have a signal. I just can't believe Beasley actually pays for the G/S book. Isn't that the way Nielson works these days? If you don't pay for it, they don't show you? It's not like they are looking for ad dollars outside of the Charlotte Metro.
I believe so. I remember years ago, 99.9 WKSF ALWAYS showed in the GSP numbers - as one would expect considering they put a city grade signal over much of the market. They’ve been non-existent in the ratings for years, but V is still there.

They've been non-existent because they do not subscribe in a market where they don't need ratings.
Do you have any idea why WBAV would subscribe in a market they don’t target? It’s the only station in the Beasley Charlotte cluster that subscribes.

I remember when 105.3 had their tower up in Rutherford County, NC (then known as WAGI) their coverage was great from/in both Greenville, SC and Charlotte, SC ... Kinda Rimshot to Both Markets, Smackdab in the center of both.

They had a good signal that reached both Greenville and Charlotte, but they primarily focused on serving Gaffney and Cherokee County as their local hometown station. When it was sold, apparently a business decision was made that it was more lucrative to become a Charlotte market station and the signal was moved to the WBTV tower in Gaston County, joining with 107.9 on that same tower. Local folks in Gaffney complained at the time due to the loss of their hometown station.

Although Greenville-Spartanburg and Asheville are combined as a TV market, they are separate regions for radio ratings. But nevertheless lots of folks in the Upstate have 99.9 as a preset choice for the country format, along with 100.5 and 92.7.

As for Beasley, both 101.9 and 95.1 have decent signals in the Upstate, but they apparently only 101.9 is monitored for ratings outside the Charlotte market.

96.9 and 103.7 Country Station options from the Charlotte area also have a Decent Signal in Cherokee County and up to about Spartanburg, more so on 103.7 being a bit stronger.

Yes you can get 103.7 decently in a good bit of Spartanburg County. Which means they have a really good signal as they still transmit from northeast Mecklenburg County rather than from those other towers in western Gaston County. 96.9 drops out a bit sooner as there is a translator on the same channel in Greenville County.
