105.9 Sunny FM using a Talkbox in their jingles

Sonovox was very common in Top 40 jingles, particularly in the 60's. An early implementation strapped a special mike to the singer's throat and then processed the voice to create the "robot" effect.
I know. It was a joke given the unconventional political morning show they have for a music station
Rather than start a new topic I thought I'd just reply here. I was in a car with a co-worker this week and had the (mis)fortune of listening to the morning show on two separate occasions. I am honestly shocked at how much they get away with on that morning show for a Classic Hits music format. Political slant and non-truths aside, the tone is stronger and harsher than some of the well known national right wing talkers. They don't take callers, but they have no issue being nasty to the 'other side' on social media as well as posting a pretty graphic video of the Minneapolis situation on their Facebook page. On a Classic Hits station.
It's clearly working for them, at least according to the 6+ numbers. I would *love* to see the morning show numbers compared to the rest of the day, as well as how they stack up with the other morning shows in the area.
I had the station on this morning for AT40 the 80s and coming out of AT40 they played two hits from the 2000s in a row, Drops of Jupiter by Train and Get Busy by Sean Paul. And I just can't imagine the audience for where they are musically lines up with the audience for the morning show. But I can't argue with success, I suppose. But I am in no way a regular listener to the station the way I was when it was at its peak in the early/mid 2010s with a non-political Rick, Paco, Domino, Spyder and Mike Beach.

I use Sonovox (the proper name for what you call a "talk box") for some of the imaging on The Eighties Channel™, notably for the year announcement in the Forgotten 45 stager and in all of the out-of-stop "jingles" during Flashback Weekend (as well as the TOH stager for that show).
Used properly, it can make your imaging stand out. Overused, or used in contexts where it doesn't "fit" the programming, it becomes an annoyance.

63 Big WAYS in the Charlotte area has a robotic voice saying "weather" before Weather Channel forecasts. These happen several times an hour if anyone wants to hear it. It is a 50s/60s station that uses liners and jingles from 61 Big WAYS, which was THE Top 40 in Charlotte in the 60s and 70s.
WAYS did not become "THE" anything until 1965.
"By the 1960s, WAYS was Charlotte's lowest-rated station. Its studios were in such bad shape, cats were needed to control the rodents.[6] Stan and Sis Kaplan of Boston bought WAYS in May 1965 for $550,000.[7] Beginning in June of that year, "61 New Ways" and later "61 Big Ways" aired an energetic Top 40 format which was considered by older residents to be "an alien sound in the Carolinas". It went to number one, surpassing longtime leader WBT, eventually becoming one of the highest-rated Top 40 stations in the country."
By the late 70's, it had begun a decline that would cause it to change format in 1982.
Stan and Sis also applied their magic to The Big Ape in Jacksonville, operating it from 1970 to 1980.

The other morning I heard Rick Stacy call any listener that's not on his side of the political aisle a "d****bag" and told them he does not want them listening and that he hates them. He also was doing an impression of a foreign accent in a very mocking and offensive way.
With the changes in market level leadership at Audacy this week I wonder if this approach on a Classic Hits music formatted station will continue.
