But replacing conservative talk with conservative talk makes no sense.
You're making my point. We're not going to be able to second guess this, only try to figure out what's least likely.
But replacing conservative talk with conservative talk makes no sense.
Do you know, or have you asked about the different schedules of programs on their website?
It would be nationally syndicated conservative talk, not local origination such as already exists on WBT-FM. It would be not so much a replacement as a brand extension. But replacing conservative talk with conservative talk makes no sense.
Yep, just like Audacy is doing down here in Greenville with its autopilot AM signals (1330/950) and HD. Local and some syndicated talk on WYRD-FM, syndicated Premiere programming on 98.9-HD2 and 1330/950. Not sure why some are acting like this is unprecedented. It would be nationally syndicated conservative talk, not local origination such as already exists on WBT-FM. If R1 has no idea what to do at this point, then it's time for a filler format. Play a small library of Oldies tunes non stop with only a legal ID. That's what everyone else does. It's not unprecedented. It actually makes sense. BUT it they were going to do that there is ZERO reason to run a month long and more redirect loop on the AM. Again none of us know, but I'm sticking with my prediction of urban talk. It's about to get real up in here. Not what I'd do, but I don't run R1. My earlier musing about a WDIA format actually sounds pretty good to me.
Whatever they do I wish they'd hurry up and do it. I don't want this to turn into an April Fools joke

1330 in Greenville, SC was never WCKI to my recollection, it was WFBC (AM) and added as a simulcast of WYRD (AM) in the early 90s as the market’s news talker. The WORD brand got an FM simulcast on 106.3 in 2008 (now 98.9 since 2023), and the AM’s eventually flipped to sports around 2016 after lingering along for almost a decade. Last year, since the AM’s were just feeding the FM translators for the sports talk format, Audacy launched “Upstate Red” with almost the entire Premiere slate on 1330/950 and 98.9 HD2 as a companion brand to WORD (WYRD-FM).Wait, 1330 is owned by Audacy (sp) now? Is it still 'CKI? Marshall Pack was a good man with a good voice.
"Jam on It' by Newcleus.I don't know of any redirect loops that have run this long. I remember some stunts back in the day, namely the one from 'MO to 'BIG on 102.1 and context therewith and the one from 'BIG to 'JM<H, same song for several days, with announcements thrown in every few minutes about 102 Jams, but none this long. Wow, that sentence was about as long as this stunt, sorry.

Audacy has owned 1330/950 going back to Entercom, and even Sinclair before that I believe.
WCKI is 1300 in Greer. It's a Catholic format and has a translator at 105.3.
That might-a-been it, but sure sounded like Jam Own E to my ears LOL. That's why I didn't attempt to type it."Jam on It' by Newcleus.

Re: April fools joke, in the words of an old friend who's done passed on, ya got that right twice...
