Totally fictional ... but amusing

K.M. Richards

Program Director, The Eighties Channel™
I got to thinking about all the conservatives who seem to want the world to go back to an earlier time, so I went into my research files and came up with a list of what the call letters would be for L.A. stations if they had to go back to their originally assigned ones:

KRRL/92.3 – KFAC-FM
KCBS-FM/93.1 – KNX-FM
KDAY/93.5 – KAPP
KLLI/93.9 – KPOL-FM
KBUA/94.3 – KVFM
KEBN/94.3 – KGGK
KTWV/94.7 – KFMV
KLOS/95.5 – KECA-FM
KAIA/95.9 – KEZE
KXOL-FM/96.3 – KRKD-FM
KWIZ/96.7 – KVOE-FM
KNX-FM/97.1 – KKLA
KLAX-FM/97.9 – KLAX-FM
KRCV/98.3 – KAGH-FM
KYSR/98.7 – KCBH
KKLA/99.5 – KHOF-FM
KKLQ/100.3 – KMLA
KRTH/101.1 – KHJ-FM
KSCA/101.9 – KUTE
KJLH/102.3 – KFOX-FM
KIIS-FM/102.7 – KLAC-FM
KDLD/103.1 – KSRF
KDLE/103.1 – KJAS
KOST/103.5 – KGLA
KRCD/103.9 - KTYM-FM
KBIG/104.3 – KBIQ
KKGO-FM/105.1 – KBCA
KBUE/105.5 – KLFM
KPWR/105.9 – KBMS
KALI-FM/106.3 – KFIL
KROQ-FM/106.7 – KPPC-FM
KSSE/107.1 – KMAX
KLVE/107.5 – KBBI
KWVE/107.9 – KAPX

And if you go back to the old FM band, 93.1 was K31LA on 43.1 and KRTH was K45LA on 44.5.

No, no, no ... you have to make it fit the acronym MAGA. How about Make AM Great Again? 😆

Brilliant 😂

Incidentally I am significantly more right wing than left and I find this funny. Nothing wrong with a bit of fun.

Back on topic did they ever use Meters here? I know the UK and Europe didn't start using Khz initially and the BBC Home Service was listed as 206 Meters

Only back in the early days. In 1921, everyone shared time on 360 meters (833 KHz). A second frequency on 485 meters (619 kHz) was added, but only for weather and agricultural information, if you can believe that.

400 meters (700 kHz) was added the next year, and its use was limited to only about 30 specified stations nationwide. In 1923, when the Department of Commerce started licensing stations to operate at specified frequencies, "meters" was dropped in favor of kilocycles in order to make spacing every 10kc work.

You've not gone back far enough. As a conservative I want to get rid of the FM band and go back to AM. That's original intent. Make Radio Great Again
Talking is for telephones and music is for orchestras. Radios must be operated with a telegraph key. Long live King Spark! :ROFLMAO:

Yet station lists and "logbooks" still continued to list meter frequencies through the end of the decade.

In wanting to avoid having to look that up, I discovered that there is site that automatically decodes Morse Code.

Thank you for this authoritative research! Also, as I think you know, a previous deleted license for the 105.9 frequency had KFI-FM - did it not?
