HD Radio updates only

Reached out to iHeart regarding the lower-than-usual quality of audio on KQBT HD2, and unfortunately it looks like Pride Radio will soon be taken off the air…

I enjoyed listening to this station, so this is a bit disappointing. Glad to have this heads up though!

I wonder if Channel Q will follow in Pride Radio’s footsteps any time soon.. hopefully not.

Wonder if iHeart would replace Pride Radio with the Black Information Network on KQBT HD-2. KXYZ is the only Houston iHeart AM not carried on an FM HD channel.

I turned in today, it sounds fine to me. Am I missing something? 97.9 HD2 sounds lower Thant 93.7 HD2. Also 106.9 HD3 sounds compressed.

Maybe going away in some markets. I did a google search on it:
No, iHeart Pride Radio is not going away
; it's a long-running LGBTQ+ format from iHeartMedia, available digitally and via affiliates, actively promoted during Pride Month and beyond with music, podcasts, and events, not ending, though some local formats might shift.

The reading service had been on a 67 kHz SCA subcarrier of 88.7 for many years; I understand that SCA channel is now gone (haven't checked for myself in a long time.)

Too bad most radios don't get SCA channels. But I have a USB SDR scanner--just not sure how to listen to SCA channels on it yet.

KLVH has turned on their HD today for the first time since it was Country Legends. That’s the end of always hearing KXBJ 100 miles away.

HD2 K-LOVE 2000s
HD3 K-LOVE 90s

May have just been a test. No HD on KLVH at a 10:45pm check.

Surprised one of the subchannels wasn’t Radio Nueva Vida. I’m sure they know KLTW has no Houston coverage. Perhaps something else in the works for that?

I suspect the HD will soon be back on a permanent basis on 97.1.

BTW no HD on Air1 KHJK.

I’m only getting HD1
I checked 97.1 this evening on my car radio (my only HD receiver) and the KLVH HD was on with the additional subchannels, but the HD signal level seemed feeble compared to the main analog output. There were a couple of times when either the HD-2 or HD-3 would drop out, but not at the same time…engineers tweaking things?

Still surprised Radio Nueva Vida hasn’t made an appearance in Houston. Too large a Spanish speaking market to ignore.
Still no BIN on HD yet.
Which is odd, as it is on FMHD in a few other markets, AIUI. Why not on an HD-3 of KQBT?

Speaking of which, Pride Radio still going on KQBT HD-2. Been curious if TikTok Radio would replace it as iHeart has done in some other markets.

I checked right around Sunset and the HD was still off. Subchannels must have only been on for the first 2-3 hours it came back on. Interestingly enough my home radio I left on 97.1 instantly went to HD3 whenever I turned it on and disappeared whenever I tuned away. It must have checked the signal while it was off

So the same owners of KLOVE own AIR1? Can they add HD to their subchannels? Could day potentially add RADIO VIDA to 103.7 HD2

Yes, K-Love Inc. (EMF) owns both, along with Radio Nueva Vida.

RNV on 103.7 HD-2 would be redundant to KLTW in B/PA, but would give that service Houston coverage for the first time.

I’m surprised RNV wasn’t used on one of the KLVH subchannels, thus my speculation upthread that there may be other plans for it, perhaps on its own separate station.

RNV on 103.7 HD-2
I really hope that if KHJK goes HD they will have reduced power on their lower sideband. To help protect the LPFMs here and even the translator. Also I like the nights I can hear Bob.

Also I noticed Thursday around midnight KPFT HD was off.

still have the old text
I saw song info on HD2 and the station name on HD3. Also earlier I heard proper legal IDs. Wonder if they’ll add RNV to HD4.

KCYB, KYBY and K278DA currently have more headaches clashing with each other than they would from HD on KHJK.😝

Which are far fewer now since KBPA downgraded to a C2. The old C0 facility was a blowtorch.

(However the downgrade was actually a market improvement as it moved the transmitter to the west Austin tower farm.)

K-Love Inc. runs HD-4 on a few of its stations, but that is uncommon. Still surprised RNV isn’t one of the KLVH subchannels.

Air1’s KYDA in DFW does have RNV on its HD-3. RNV is also on subchannels in the Austin-San Antonio corridor, and on translators in Austin and New Braunfels.

I think K-Love Inc’s “Adoracion” format is running on KYDA HD-2. Been curious if that service would eventually be merged with RNV.

Channel Q seems to have a loud buzz in the sound again. This happens every few weeks. Anybody know why this keeps happening?
It’s been like that for the whole week. I been listening since I had read it was flipping. But has sounding like a rimshot station
