Grammy Ratings Down 6%

TV ratings for the 68th annual Grammy Awards were down about 6% from last year. This was the show's final year on CBS:

The show had a huge impact on social media, generating 302 million views and 78 million interactions.

The show moves to ABC next year.

If the WBD deal doesn't close I expect Skydance to sell CBS/Paramount. According to Microsoft AI, they are an investment firm (like Wilks was in radio) trying to get the bottom line up as much as possible and then "flip." Without WBD, that will probably be soonervthan later.

If you're going to start a post here with "according to Microsoft AI" or "I asked ChatGPT," please just close your browser and go somewhere else.

The proprietors of this site are writers who believe strongly in the value of human-created content and verifiable facts and history.

If you *know* something to be true, that's great - say so in your own words. If you have an opinion, go ahead and state that in your own words.

"AI" (really "LLM' or "large language models" in this context) don't *know* anything. They scrape whatever they can find on the internet, whether it's something a human has worked hard to create or just more AI-generated slop, and they spit out whatever the most probable string of words is.

Sometimes it's right. Often it's wrong. But this is a site by and for humans. Let's please keep it that way. Thanks.

From now on, I'll try to keep it that way...think there's another post today in another thread I cited it.

That's why I have the "Bye Bye, Google AI" extension installed. No more Google Gemini search results. AI slop is making people dumber every day, while giant data centers use massive amounts of electricity and take over neighborhoods, agricultural fields, and forest habitats. Look at all the fake AI videos on YouTube of celebrities "dead" when they aren't. Or crime stories that aren't true...news stories that are exaggerated. etc etc

Here's the ONLY good moment from the Grammys...and I won't share anything else. I don't watch awards shows anymore because I am so sick and tired of celebrities who put their political opinions into what should be a joyous occasion. I also don't care for much of the current music (except for Christian Contemporary and some country songs). Jelly Roll is an inspiration, going from the darkest depths of society to a new life filled with joy.

The funny part to me was that some conservatives thought Jelly was making a political statement.
We talk a lot about the "transmitter" but not enough about the "receiver". The perceptions of different audience groups certainly seem, based on this incident, to be so far apart that they almost suggest that some were watching a different channel!

What did you read that led you to that highly questionable conclusion?

I think the overall trend in ratings for award shows will continue to be a decrease. While some did recover a portion of the audiences they've lost in the last six years, the downward trend is likely to overcome that.

Not seeing that. If you discerned that from something, please consider sharing a link. I really don't think anyone construed JRs comments as a political statement.

Says you. When’s the last time you listened to current music?
Just because the music doesn’t fit a persons taste doesn’t mean the music is good. Most popular music now is the same cookie cutter jingle with a different singer and slighting changed chord. You don’t have the depth of 70s song writers anymore.
