Catherine O’Hara dies at 71

A native of Toronto, O’Hara was part of the SCTVensemble that also helped launch the careers of John Candy, Eugene Levy, Rick Moranis and others. She’s arguably best known for playing Kevin’s (Macaulay Culkin) mother, Kate, in the Home Alonemovies and had a career renaissance in the past 10 years with Schitt’s Creek — winning an Emmy for her role as a faded soap opera actress opposite old friend Levy — and The Studio, for which she earned an Emmy nomination last year

And I had just rewatched Home Alone on Christmas, a few weeks ago.

She went too young. I'm less than two years younger ... 😱

I became a big fan of hers from SCTV. She did another parody commercial for Phillips Milk of Amnesia that was quite funny.
And that Lola Heatherton character who wanted to bear everyone's children. They say that her eulogy for her friend
John Candy was one of the best ever given. She'll be missed.

The Associated Press article listing next week's birthdays shows her turning 72. This is the second time in recent weeks the birthday list has shown someone who was deceased.

That happens for an easily explained reason. The "next week's birthday" is produced weeks -- if not months -- in advance and recent deaths are not always caught in the editing process.

The world isn't perfect. As the late Roger Voudouris sang ... get used to it.
