Favorite Urban AC stations

Having lived in L.A. until 1972, my pick would have to be the now-defunct KGFJ. I still remember my mom requesting I change the radio station from that in my dad's pickup truck as we were driving home from a musical show at the grade school for the blind--she thought the female singer's voice was too shrill. Also, for the record, KGFJ could not be received in the Sunland-Tujunga area at night because of both the terrain and how far the station's transmitter was from that area.
 
On a good day, I could receive KGFJ up in Ventura during the daytime. I was very fond of the station during its all-R&B gold years, with the music referred to by the term "dusties". I still use that word to describe classic Soul songs from the 60s and 70s ... I later found that the word originated in Chicago and can be used to describe that music all the way back to the 40s.

If I can add a second question to this thread: What were your favorite "dusties" back in the day? A few of mine:
"I'm Doin' Fine Now" - New York City
"Tryin' To Love Two" - William Bell
"You Little Trustmaker" - Tymes
 
Dusties? Yours is a great list but here are a few of my own:

The Isley Brothers--"Love the One You're With," (I liked that better than the Stephen Stills original)
O.C. Smith--"The Son of Hickory Holler's Tramp,"
Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose--"Don't Ever Be Lonely (A Poor Little Fool Like me),"
Booker T. & the MGs--"Groovin," (a great instrumental cover of the Young Rascals, tune)
Smokey Robinson & the Miracles--"I Don't Blame You at All,"
Stevie Wonder--"Heaven Help Us All,"

There are so many more but I'll stop here.

SA-lute to the late Dusty 1390 in Chicago in the 90s.
 
Down here in Lafayette LA we got Magic 104.7 KNEK and Z105.9. And in Baton Rouge, there’s Q106.5 and 104.1 the Vibe. I remember growing up my dad always listened to Q in our minivan, especially on Saturdays when they played Southern Soul and Blues.
 
Strangely, I seem to like the syndicated "Touch" stations. Good blend of older R&B and new hits. Force 3 Radio in the MS/AR Delta would be one of those stations.
Also a HUGE fan of WMGJ-AM 1240 in Gadsden AL, with a massive playlist of R&B spanning 1970s to now. Many album cuts and oh wow's. This station has no translator and is on a graveyard frequency, still on the air in 2026. That's incredible!
 
I really liked The Big DM in Columbia, SC when it was owned by Inner City.

I like my local station V101.9 in Charlotte a lot, but they can be inconsistent.
 
I don’t know if KHHT (Hot 92.3) counts but that was my favorite station during their first two years on the air when I was in elementary school in the early 2000’s. That was an Urban AC that was in touch with the market. It played current R&B, Old School and some adult friendly hip hop like LL Cool J,etc.
