Chaz & AJ pick up Long Island

Interesting move by Connoisseur, which tried the same thing when they owned WDRC-FM Hartford back in 2007. A New Haven morning show wasn't what Hartford listeners wanted and their stay on The Whale was brief. Let's see how Long Islanders take to all the Connecticut references coming out of their radios in the morning.

I haven't heard it but the 99.9 WEZN Bridgeport morning show is simulcast on 97.5 WALK-FM. Connoisseur owns those stations as well. I assume WEZN airs Connecticut commercials and WALK-FM airs Long Island commercials. Now the morning show is being syndicated to other markets as well.

Geez, at one time WALK-FM had a big morning show. Lots of news, two-person airborne traffic reports, meteorologist. WALK-FM was month after month Long Island's #1 station. Now it's lucky to be in the top five.

Is it that not enough folks on Long Island care about Long Island news, traffic and info? Or it's too expensive? In New Jersey, WKXW 101.5 does an all-talk format with no syndication. Like WALK-FM, it's in the shadow of NYC but far enough away that NYC signals are a bit harder to get.

NJ 101.5 goes Classic Hits from Friday to Sunday nights.
