I believe they ran CNN headline news. They were owned by Greater Media at the time
I believe they were owned by Tanger at that time. Greater Media purchased it in early 1985 and flipped it to Oldies as Boston's second WMEX (in AM stereo!), which lasted only through late 1989.No, I think they were owned by Tanger, no?
CNN Headline News didn't launch until 1982. Certainly possible that they ran CNNHN audio, just not until 1982.I believe they ran CNN headline news. They were owned by Greater Media at the time
... in the early 80s all news was on 1150 but not sure how they did it. Can’t imagine they could afford 24 hour local talent.
CNN Headline News was syndicated through Westwood One for many years as a 24/7 format, at least up until the late 2000s. According to a story in the "M Street Journal" dated Jun 6, 1989, this service began 24/7 operation with Transtar in 1989. I believe it began earlier with another syndicator, although it may have time-shared with other programming. For awhile CNN pitching HLN audio as a radio format, but "TV audio" on the radio never quite worked. I think at one time CNN starting offering radio-only newscasts and not just duplicating HLN.
