HD Radio Timing Solutions

So what kind of GPS feed is needed to operate in HD mode? Apparently the analog and digital streams cannot diverge more than a few microseconds. Is a GPS-derived 10 ppm signal needed ? With newer generation combined importer+exporter boxes is timing still an issue?

It's no issue at all with the current boxes from Nautel and GatesAir. They come with GPS receivers built in and as long as you position the antenna somewhere that gets enough of the GPS constellation to stay locked, it's entirely set it and forget it. I've barely touched mine in over two years now. It just stays in sync.
