WMEX

The success of whatever they do depends on finding advertisers. If they can find enough business direct buys to make at least a tiny profit... they're golden.

WMEX had Facebook pulldown the "remembering WMEX 1510" fan page according to a post on the NEW ENGLAND RADIO STATIONS facebook group...and someone pointed out there's not trademark on WMEX....

Been listening this weekend. The music sounded great yesterday with Dave Newfell. Mainly 70s and 80s and a few 60s per hour. Now it is all 60s and poor songs to boot. Maybe the DJ, Russ Stevens, didn’t get the memo the format changed. lol This isn’t listenable and they will never get an audience with this music selection. You would think the program director would be more focused on the music.

How do you define "poor songs"? Legitimate stiffs or songs you personally dislike?

One was by Johnny Cash Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down which only hit 46 on the pop charts. I didn’t jot down other songs I don’t know, which one should know if you are playing the greatest hits

I'm listening right now to something called the "The Top 1510 Countdown Show" playing 50's and 60's with a ton of song commentary. The DJ tries to cram in too much info...pretty annoying.

The Burlington VT market has a good MeTV music station that shows up in the ratings. 96.7 MeTV FM
Yes, the Burlington station sounds good.

If anyone is curious, MeTV FM is available on iHeart.com. It is the Franken FM station in Chicago simulcast with an HD station in Milwaukee. It's interesting that there seems to be very little localization. The liners are all pretty much read by the Me TV female voice, with no mention of the dial position, at least none that I heard. I didn't realize it was the Chicago outlet until I just heard the legal I.D. Type MeTV in the iHeart search engine.

Interesting because when I listen to the Chicago MeTV FM station using Audacy (with you go onto MeTV FM website and hit click to listen it takes you to Audacy) the announcing has no personalization but I hear a lot of local Chicago commercials and I’m not streaming anywhere geographically close to Chicago.

What is with their audio? It sounds like slightly off AM frequency, with the splashy splatter! 😴

funny thing there is a park in south philadelphia navy yard complex where wmex comes in loud and clear daytime in the car long catch and its always there not a fluke.....

Sounds like distortion, too much gain somewhere, some component may be overdriving in the airchain even if not overmodulating on the signal.

This distortion, and higher audio compression than before, seemed to come in with the updated daytime music format a couple of weeks ago.

Does their translator have audio "issues" to?

Can’t get the translator here in Somerville, wrong direction for its directional pattern.

I used to be able to hear it here by parking my car in certain spots on south facing hills, but not since the translator for WJIB on adjacent 101.3 began broadcasting in HD and the digi-noise sideband wipes out that occasional trace of the WMEX translator on 101.1.

Yes, the audio is distorted on the translator too.
